I have a Western Arms cap and ball revolver in .44 cal,My question is who makes them ? I think Western Arms is a company that just imports them. Please help me out. Thanks
i'm in the early steps of buying it.Its still in it red box and on the barrel "WESTERN ARMS". I've did some digging on the internet and its a UBERTI ,it a 1858 in .44 cal. So, whats it worth? it looks new and also has 2 ball mould with it.
Sounds like you have performed a basic inspection but here are some questions - especially pertinent to an older C&B. Has the owner only shot plain blackpowder and soft lead through it? If so, there should be no issues with structural wear or integrity. But has it been cleaned properly after use? Can you remove the cylinder easily? (Think 'Pale Rider') Check the nipples to see if anybody has peened them over from dry-firing and will they unscrew easily for cleaning?
As to value - something less than what the current new price is for an Uberti NMA. http://www.shooterschoice.com/uberti/Uberti.htm
Base price with them is $355.00, so something less than that.
Regarding the mould - the ball size for that revolver should be .454 to give you a small shaving of lead and a good seal when you seat it in the cylinder.
