every so often I notice some water in the case of my 12 gauge shells. I tried drying them with desiccates, but when I tried them they don't fire as nice as they should. I need to move up to a more waterproof slug, any ideas?

What's thinking of wax too, if I could find one with a very high melting temperature. Metal cartridge shells sometimes have that little bit of red paint around the primer I think for the same reason

Where and how are you keeping them now and what do you mean by "need it ready"? Are you keeping a round chambered and having the barrel pointed up for days and rain is getting in through the muzzle?

Not trying to be a smartass - just curious. If it is that then electrical tape over the muzzle - it will blow off and not affect the shot from what I've messed around with.

Keep em in the magazine.

Grizz
Yes, they're in a magazine. Box magazine in a dominion grizz

Always have electrical tape over the muzzle, I prefer safety off and round not chambered, it's quicker than trying to find the safety. I think.

In the nightmare forest of the mosquito nest project it's almost always wet and humid.

A rifle is more effective and solves every problem with slugs in wet climates. Been there, I abandoned shotguns for bear purposes long ago. Lots of excellent and affordable full stainless rifles out there, too.

good advice, I thought about changing over. 7.62x39 enough? I'd prefer sami auto

Marginal, but I’d carry it without a worry. Like everything it’s shot placement, and remembering you face 1000x the risk from hypothermia or a broken leg than you do from a bear. We over prepare for the bears and under prepare for the real threats. Especially in Black bear only country, Grizzlies and Polar bears play by slightly different rules.

Pack a couple space blankets, inreach, some high energy and fats food bars, a good knife, fire starter, very good outerwear and boots, and first aid kit. The gun can be almost anything, it’s always the last survival and safety item you’ll use, and the most awkward. But I admit it feels good to have one.
