Using Dawn and Lemi Shine with warm water.

New-in-box Hornady 150gr SST's on the left, 150gr FMJ's, freshly tumbled, on the right.

Shiny.

Well, they sure do look nice and shiny.....like new, in fact.

But I'll bet they don't shoot any better than the less shiny versions, lol.

However, It's what makes YOU happy that counts.

WHAT!!!!!.......shiny brass does not make it shoot better!!...that has to be bull crap,my chrome valve covers and braided rad hose added 30hp to my rig,and they are shiny.

What are you using for a sizing lube to see such a difference? Dave.

I find it easier on my eyes to inspect clean brass and check primer pockets..

Use imperial sizing wax . I think it's the best

It's all I've used for close to 20 years. I also consider it the best. Dave.

LEE lube.
I did a dozen or so without tumbling and the difference is notable. Especially the expander coming out

I got tired of finding stainless pins all over my shop and quit using the pins. Use Sunlight dish detergent (lots) and doubled the amount of Lemi-shine. Results are fine, brass is clean inside and out. Rinsed cartridges are oven dried at 170 F

Chinbullco, you are not using pins? You are just tumbling with a solution and brass? Coming out ok?

Real clean brass at last!

I finally "bit the bullet" and bought the Frankford Arsenal tumbler kit.



Results were excellent from the start. Got two batches of 45 ACP brass cleaned like I never thought possible.



I rinsed the brass as per instructions and put the contents of the drum in a rotary separator. This gets the pins out quite fast; I wish someone made an electro magnet to clamp to the bottom of the separator, just to speed things up but, anyways, it works real good.

Now, to facilitate drying, I bought a 4 liter stainless jar at Canadian Tire and fabricated a removable basket out of a small 7" diameter stainless steel bowl. I punched holes in the bottom with a step drill and gave it a clothes hanger handle.





The jar is filled with methyl hydrate (methanol) and the brass is dipped in it. The alcohol captures and dilutes the water from the shells and you get dry and spotless brass in a jiffy.
I keep methanol shut in the jar in a cool place.
