Anyone here from the Wetaskiwin, AB area? I will be spending the May long weekend in Wetaskiwin and I have some questions. How is the gopher hunting in the area? Where is the closest public range and are there any gun shops nearby? Thanks in advance.
:)

Camrose Range is close, but I'm not sure what is scheduled, and you have to be accompanied by a paid member to be covered, there doing cleanup today, so I imagine it will be open next weekend, could be a scout shoot or black powder though, I'm not sure. Theres more gophers than you have bullets around here.

Edit:

Also, make the drive to Bashaw sports gun shop, you won't be disappointed, and check out the ammo selection at Canadian tire in Wetaskiwin, only Can Tire that I've found that has 204 ruger, 45 ACP, 357 Mag, and a bunch of other strange (I say strange as in strange for can tire) calibers.

Lots of gophers, bring plenty .22LR.

For a gun shop try Pipestone Archery, west of Millet, about 15 minutes outside Wetaskiwin. Nice people and some interesting stuff.

Camrose or Ponoka are the closest ranges, need to be accompanied by a member at both. Can Tire in Wetaskiwin has some reloading stuff and fair selection of ammo, no guns.

Thanks for the info guys. I plan to warm up my .22 rifle barrel on some gophers if I can break away from the wife for a few hours.
