WGP in Edmonton

I've bought stuff from them from time to time. Service has been really hit or miss. Last time not so good, I went in to get a shotgun front bead sight and the woman at the front was terrible. Wouldnt sell me any because she would have to go into the back and get a couple different ones for me to try. Sadly I will still use them only because they are handy. I do buy a fair bit from numrich, they have the parts and are very helpful.

Good to deal with over the phone. Someone there also puts up auctions on Gunbroker, which have also been good transactions for me. That's by email. I suspect they aren't fond of walk-in customers. That seems to be a theme. Maybe try doing business the way they prefer, you could be pleasantly surprised.

Yes, being abused makes you mad. I know the feeling well. I also know that nothing I say will change other people's minds. You had a bad experience, so they're bad. I had good ones, and will deal there again. But I know better than to go there in person, especially if they don't seem to want me standing there, breathing their precious air. As others have said, it's their private business.
And their air. Stay home and save yourself the aggravation.

I can only imagine how cranky I would be if I had to spend my days dealing with goobers who want a screw for their grandpa's old POS shotgun. I ordered a bunch of parts from them years ago to complete my SS Abolt project. No problems.

You got it, Big Ugly, great to complain but spend a day there dealing with the public walk-ins and phone calls. There's easily a million parts in stock and slight differences from year to year, ......a screw is not a screw when dealing with the last century's production, ......kinda like asking the local Ford dealer if he has a rad hose for a 49 Studebaker, lots of manufacturers and lots of parts.

But the grapevine says Erv wouldn't mind selling, so how come no one wants to buy him out and offer improved service, or better yet, start some competition?

I've always had all the info I needed when I phoned in or walked in , and never really experienced any of the rudeness others have.
I have always made sure Ii was sounding as happy as I could and wished them a very good morning first even if I was having a crappy day- just in case!

like I said I was asking for a thumb safety for a 1911 I had many part numbers I was willing to offer but she told me right up "nope we don't have anything like that" and gave me some long winded bull #### about how much money it would cost to keep stock of such a part at 1911 part is a 1911 part they all need fitting for the most part but other then the high cap frames they are all pretty much the same and all need fitting

How many thumb safeties do you suppose they would sell in a year? Each company has to apply for export permits out of the US and the cost is very steep. Some companies don't want to go to the expense for a small market, plain and simple. Then add the fact that there are probably 100 companies offering 1911 safeties and each of them offering a half-dozen safeties each how could a shop in the middle of a small market stock a reasonable selection? Then sure enough some stooge would climb onto his internet-soapbox to rail off an epically-unpunctuated thread to whine that they didn't have the exact model he wanted which means they're a #### company.

WGP usually has the parts I'm looking for. If they don't, then don't expect them to go out of their way. Dealing over the phone is sometimes a test in patience. It's kind of like the soup Nazi on Seinfeld, know what you want and don't ask too many questions.

I called there the other day for a few items.
Couple were just under ten dollars each.
Minimum order is $30.00
Pretty simple math then.
Buck screw = $30.00.
So order thirty of them and put the rest in the EE for $5 a piece and yer
awff tuh da races.

I email my queries. Always get a rapid response.
Then I follow up with a phone call to place the order.
Fast and effective.
It really helps if you know exactly what you are looking for.
