Whad'ya think of my Norinco AR??

I am anxiously awaiting my FIRST black rifle. Bought a NORC CQ556 from EPPS in ONT. Just a paper puncher. Not going to war. Unconcerned with other opinions on wether they like it. They didn't invest any money with me so they can bugger off. Dont like it, switch threads. Would like advice and feedback on their NORC's to help with mine. I'm 40 and have put MANY,MANY thousands of rounds downrange and up bush.
Enjoy it. Use it.

Hey did anyone else have troubles with the safety switch, when installing the MOE grip?

Mine was just flopping around, then i found the spring for it, but now it is too stiff, and wont move at all......

It is tight, until you switch from safe to fire, or vise versa. Then it is flopping around like a dogs #### in a shirt sleeve.

I took off the right side switch completely. I had a similar problem but found that it was mostly from over tightening the screw.

Did you weld the screw head?

No, I'm not so technically inclined. I've thought about putting a small washer there as the screw rises a bit but the safety seems to work just fine and the rifle's overall function didn't seem to be impaired at the range.

It seems that it must be tightened just right, though. Too tight and things didn't work, same with leaving it too loose.

If I had the Norc CQ556 I would strip the old finish off, fill in all markings except the ser# and duracoat / armacoat it in flat black.

Here's my latest iteration:

Even though the buffer tube is commercial sized and I got the correct-sized stock, it takes a bit of convincing to move that stock.
