What .17hmr ?.

What .17hmr would be the most accurate .
1.Marlin 917v
2.Savage 93 thumbhole .
3. Cz in 17hmr .
4. Another one .
I hear that some of the 200-300 $ can out shoot the cz is this true ?.

Does anyone also know the group sizes that I can except for each rifle I do my part ?.

My dad's savage 93r17btv shoots dime sized groups at 125 yards off the bipod. It wasn't 200 bucks though

I have an NEF Sportster in .17HMR, I think they are around $225 new. 1" at 100 yards is a bad or windy day for me. I can't shoot dime sized groups at 125 because I'm I'm old and shaky, I'm more than sure the rifle can in the right hands. I cannot comment on any of the other brands you mention, or compare as this is the only .17 I've owned or shot.

I own a Marlin. Cloverleafs at 50 yards are not uncommon for me. Dime sized at 125? I don't know if I could pull that off; thats less than 0.5MOA.

Accuracy

Trying to predict accuracy is like someone chosing a wife for you. You can have two rifles, made one after the other, and they could shoot differently.

That said, the Savage and the Marlin are at the lower end of your range, with the CZ at the upper end. You would expect to get more from the CZ because it costs almost twice as much as the other two.

I would choose the Savage, with heavy barrel and Accu-trigger. The Marlin trigger system is not quite as good for adjustments, in my opinion. I have both Savage and Marlin rifles....the Savages in .22 LR and the Marlin is in the .17HM2 calibre, but the actions are the same as used in the .17HMR.

It also depends upon what you are going to use it for. If a walking around rifle, I would choose a regular barrel instead of a heavy barrel. If for varmint hunting where you are shooting a lot of cartridges at one session, a heavy barrel should be more accurate.

But, trying to predict accuracy? Sorry, my crystal ball does not function on cloudy days, and the days here in Manitoba seem to be devoid of sunshine most of the time this year.

In all honesty any rifle in .17 HMR is always going to be pretty damn accurate. I just always had a preference to the Savage 93 line, I have had 4 of them and loved everyone of them, I even bought two of them to make one rifle (I preferred the looks of the action of one and the stock of the other). In all honesty it all just comes down to how much your willing to spend or what brand your prefer.

I put a BSA sweet 17 scope on my Marlin 917 and it's like a laser beam. Depends on ammo though, I can get dime sized groups at 200 with Hornandy's (and little or no wind). I like hotter rounds. The groups get bigger with the cheaper stuff. Sweet gun. I haven't tried the rest, so no comment.

i personally have owned 2 savage 93R17BVTS's. one was awesome the other was a lemon. with the good one i was shooting coffee creamers/golf balls at 100m with little effort off a rest. the second on i couldn't get to group less then 2" at 100m. i tried everything, but it was just a bad rifle.

i now shoot a CZ 452 .17 american varmit. LOVE IT. bolt/mag are awesome, i have never had a failure to fire, extract or feed. the trigger is decent and mine has really nice walnut. it shoots best with hornady 17gr. typical groups are MOA. i won't ever sell this one! only thing i hate is the wing safety!

now, my first savage would probably outshoot my CZ (barely), i'm still kicking myself for selling it! but the second one was a lemon. i ended up selling it to a guy who figured he could get it to shoot, but he never did get it to shoot right and he sold it. however, i like my CZ better. any savage rim fire i have had has had the occasional failure to feed and it seems like mags never really seat nicely for me, i always have to tweak them a bit. i don't care for the bolts on savage, i find them sticky.

both are great, i'd say pick the one that fits you best and start shooting!

My Savage will shoot just under 1" at 100, it's a 93 with thumbhole stock, although I don't care for the accutrigger.

I have a Savage 93R17, can easily put 3 shots in less than 3/4" group at 100yds. Finicky with ammo though, best with mine is 17gr Hornady, and 20gr Winchester.

It loves the federal premium ammo, hates the hornady for some reason

Savage 93 for sure.
They're rough around the edges for fit and finish, but they out shoot most .17's.

I also have a Savage 93 Mako and it shoots "One Holers" at 100 Yards. I think most .17HMRs shoot damn accurate.

Hello to you, this is my first post here I was referred by a friend

I personally own a Savage 93R17 BTVS and yes it shoots very nice. I tried all the ammo I could (Remington, Hornady 17Gr and 20Gr. Federal 17Gr (both P770 and P771)) and the best ammo for mine was the Hornady 20Gr XTP followed very near by the Hornady 17Gr).

Shooting 125ft with 20Gr meant almost in a dime.

Too bad these 20Gr and 17Gr are so damn rare
