What 1911 9mm to buy for under $1000

I am fairly new to hand gun shooting. I have shot many hand guns in the last 4 months but I keep coming back to a 9mm 1911. We own a 9mm Norinco 1911 that I really enjoy shooting but the quality is not where I would like it to be. Can someone suggest What is the best 9mm 1911 for under $1000. Basically the best bang for the buck.
 
Of the few 9mm 1911 I've owned, the Spartan is the only one I'd buy again.

The rest were cheaper brands, all of which disappointed.
 
If you want to be sure that what you get is a good shooting gun with a nice trigger invest a couple of more hundred and get an STI Trojan in 9mm. I've read a lot of good information about the SAM models but I've also read enough to indicate that they CAN arrive with heavy triggers and other minor fitting issues that require some tinkering or a trip to a gunsmith to smoothen things up. Not that the guns don't work, just that they are not always consistently smooth in operation of the different parts. So it can be a bit of a gamble. Buy an STI and there won't be any gamble on these factors.
 
Another vote for the Spartan...well anything Sti really....my .45 Spartan is my fave 1911 right now...I'm now measuring all 1911's by this standard...this one really is that good.....

+1 for the Spartan, if you can find it; or go up one level to the Trojan.

Especially with 9mm 1911, I'd definitely want a good customer/warranty service if needed, and Freedom Ventures is great to deal with.

According to your location you live a stone's throw from DVC in Coquitlam. Go rent a bunch of different guns there and try them out. If you pick a quiet time and have your PAL they'll let you shoot a couple of mags then switch guns. So for around $100 you can try out half a dozen or more different guns and go away knowing which you want to buy.

Yeah, I went down to WCA in Bellevue, WA and did the whole thing. That said, putting aside some "testing" funds to buy/try/sell has proven quite valuable to me; that 627 was certainly nice the first few times (renting), but after extended sessions (bought) it was uncomfortable to me (sold).
