Hi All. I have a norc 1911 in the mail....

What sights do you recommend? I want a target adjustable rear and front fiber optic. I love this combo on my Shadow and want the same on the pig with lipstick on it (norinco).

What brand do you recommend and where do you suggest I buy them?

Thanks!

Sights and the work involved will cost nearly as much as the gun....dovetails need to be cut for the new sights, slide milled.
Maybe shoot it first to make sure it's worth spending money on sights. If it shoots like ####....good sights won't make any difference and it will need to be tightened up first.
You can get a bomar rear and f/o front from Freedom Ventures if it shoots good out of the box. I'm not a fan of the adjustable Novak style rear unless its going on a .22.
Benchmark what you might end up spending against an STI Spartan V....they run about $800 and have everything you are looking for and you won't have to #### around with it to get it shooting good.
Doesn't take long to get up there...
Nork $300-$400 depending on version.
Sights you want $150
Cost to install $100 min.
Trigger job because that will be brutal out of the box $100
Oversized bushing + fitting as the Nork will be loose/sloppy $75 min.
Decent grips $50....
And the list goes on lol

My other 1911 has a bomar rear. And I got a buddy to drill out the front sight and added a fiber optic to it. I may get him to do it again for me. As for the rear, my other 1911 has a bomar Adjustable rear as well as both of my shadows have LPA adjustable rears.

As for trigger work, I can and will do that myself. We'll see if it needs a bushing fitted, I doubt it. So long as it functions reliably and I can hit an IPSC target at 25 yards I'm happy with it.

As for grips hogue rubber grips are cheap. I have them on my other 1911 and use the stock rubber grips on my shadows. I like rubber grips.

Also I spent far less than your guess on this Norc BNIB as I found a very motivated seller. The money I saved buying the gun will go into a couple of parts I'd like for it such as sights.

That's the Bomar type....good sight for target work for sure.
Good luck with your mods!

Thanks! Got some rubber grips off ebay just now for $25 shipped. I don't have the gun yet, so I'll wait until I get it to get more stuff for it. Only completed the transfer for it on Friday.

I know it's a norc, I have no intentions of spending lots of money on it.

That is a question only you can answer. The only way to do that is to try 'em before you buy 'em. Go to the range and bum a few guns and rounds from the other duffers and see what works for you. Run the factory sights until you make a decision. Not to slag anyone else's custom rides...but factory sights are usually pretty good if all you are doing is plinking at 25 yards.

Your right about the factory sights, But I hate them LOL. I got the factory crapy sights on this 45, But They Work very good. usually I cant hit the broad side of a barn with these, but this 1911 is a real straight shooter. I love the new Nork with the Fiber sight and Sig style rear. POA is 100% and fast target acquisition . I have had four "5 inch"of these with fiber sights and have never had to touch them.

Fiber sights..love them. But only on the 5inch. I had 2 Commanders with these sights and POA was terrible on both.
