Hi Members,

What Sub-Sonic 22 LR ammo do you use and why. What type of firearm (barrel length, type of action) do you use it in?

Is the 45gr Winchester better than the 40gr CCI quiet?

Why?

What have you used it on?

Thank you for sharing your or your friends experience.

CCI subsonic. Oddly enough it's the same weight and velocity as the standard velocity. The only difference I can see is that it's hollow point. In any case, I've had 1 missfire in over 5000+ rounds, and I use it in 11 different guns and 9 different style actions (rolling block, falling block, trap door, falling block, martini, lever action, break action, bolt, semi-auto). Barrel lengths range from 419mm to 736mm

I've tried different brands and while they aren't bad, they aren't as good as the CCI I find.

I’ve bought the quiets (CCi) and been very unhappy. Varying velocity, can watch them loop down range (25yds), lousy accuracy. Will cycle my Browning SA but none of my other auto loaders. Had more than 1 lot to test from

THE CCI CB shorts are the quietest I've found, but tend to run dirty. I like the CCI segmented ones a lot for squirrels raiding the bird feeder

CCI Quiet 40 gr LRN is pretty accurate. In rifles sighted in with CCI SV 40 gr LRN at 100 meters, I find I can shift to 50 meters using Quiet with very little sight adjustment. This is with single shot Anschutz and BSA aperture sighted target rifles. The point of impact is lower with Quiet but accuracy quite good. More subject to the wind though. Would not use it past 50.

CCI Quiets for me. I have never tried another brand, but their point of impact seems to be close enough to my other 22 ammo I don't have to resight or anything.

The cb shorts are all I've used the past many years. Curious what your sound levels impressions are between the two.

CCI has the 40gr 750fps Quiet and the 45gr 835fps Quiet for semi autos, has anyone seen much difference in accuracy?

CCI Subsonic is 1050, Standard Velocity is 1070. I like the CCI Subsonic HP for hunting and as a casual paper round... it is usually quite accurate in most rifles.

My Sako Finnfire dislikes the CCI quite , fouls up and after as few as 5 rounds
they won't even chamber .
CZ 457 MTR fires the CCI quite but certainly does not like
the dirty fouling things.

That all said Aguila Colibri is even worse in both rifles , might work in guns
with higher tolerances .

I tried the quiet semi auto, they cycle my rifle but, they are as loud as the CCI subsonic and, not very accurate.
So I stick with regular quiet for close range fun and subsonic for anything else.
