What 9mm for fun?

Well, have been keeping an eye on the EE as well as browsing CGN dealer pages. LOTS of things are catching my eye. Cheap is not the key for me, I'd rather get top quality and spend a bit more than cheap out and pocket a few hundred.

I've got fairly big mitts so a larger frame would be to my liking - maybe a 1911 frame? I'm seeing new STI Trojans and Ranger II's in 9mm for about $1250. What's the used market value for them generally if they can be found? Also seeing various other nice looking units in the EE that may be of interest but am not familiar with 2nd hand values. ie: CZ85 Combat at $720, Sig P225 two-tone w/Barsto bbl for $900, Browning Hi-Power at $500, Glock 34 at $700. (btw, don't want to encourage any negative open discussion on EE pricing so a pm would be fine for replies).

Dude if you have big mitts a 1911 may be a mistake, I have big hands aswell and it seemed like my 1911 disappeared when I held it. I had a Kimber Custom 1911 and it felt tiny in my hands (the grip anyway) One thing that help a bit was adding a Hogue wraparound grip. But never the less try one before you buy it... I had to sell my Kimber unfortuatly...

You can get a new 9mm Tokarev clone from Norinco for $199 at Marstar - that's what I'm going to do when my PAL finally arrives.

I'm amazed no one mentioned the XD. Probably my favorite plastic gun. That being said, you won't go wrong with any of the units mentioned so far. Find one that fits your hand and your bank book and have at 'er.

I asked this very same question here a while ago. Based on comments from a lot of learned friends on this site, I came to conclusion that the answer to my question in the "Plastic Gun" category would be the Glock 17 and in the "All Steel" category, it would be CZ 75 B.

If top quality is what you're looking for, I've never heard a bad thing about Browning Hi-powers. I just bought one and it's on its way. I can't wait. My brother has one in .40 and has never had a hiccup in over 3 years he's owned it. Everyone else who talks about them always has high praise for them. Plus Canada has been using them since WWII, and we still do! If anything, that's a testament to their reliability.

Agreed. I like 1911s because they fit my small to medium sized hands so perfectly. I have always found that there is no real "rule of thumb" that accurately describes what guns fit certain sized hands as I am comfortable with 1911s and Glocks but can't stand how HK and SIGs feel when I try them (and I want to like them so much! I really do!)

9mm

Glocks are great but you might look at the S&W M&P 9 or .40 They have about the same price as a Glock. I have a Glock 17 and an M&P 40 and I find the Smith holds and points a lot better.

baretta 92 fs, been in a zillion movies, easy break down, under 900 new, its bad ass, and in my opinion, which is just an opinion to all you glock lovers, it doesnt feel like a container i should put left overs in, not so plasticy

good luck
