Hey guys,

Me again still trying to figure which 22lr handgun to buy. After inquiring about GSG and the likes, I am now looking seriously at Ruger Mark3 and Browning Buckmarks.
ng you accepMy preference goes to the Buckmark who looks easier to strip down providing you accept to use tools. Also the Buckmark seems more easily available right now at my local gun shop. Any comments on the Buckmark: Accuracy, durability and fun factor? Is the Mark 3 a better choice?

Both are great choice.

I love my Mark III Target Hunter (flutted barrell), I've bought another Mark III Target bull barrell very nice gun to shoot very acurate, you just have to go on youtube and find a good video on take it apart, once you understand on parts are working together you won't have trouble with it...

I have owned both of them. Of the two the Ruger is made stronger. The bucknark is a lot easier to strip down and put it back together. Both were equally as accurate.

I got the browning buckmark UDX ultra its very comfy to hold, has very nice adjustable sights, accurate, never had a jam,

I have a Buck Mark Plus UDX, same model that is in the video above. It's an awesome pistol. Fun factor is off the chart. Very reliable, accurate, and extremely easy to strip down. A keeper!
 
I prefer brownings only because i grew up shooting the challenger, and never warmed up to the grips on the ruger (at least the older mk). I'm sure they are both equally good. someone once told be the rugers are easier to service but i have not seen that verified.

if i was going to buy a 22lr it would be the browning contour (maybe with the 7.25" barrel).

This is the one I would get^^^^^^^. I couldn't find one at the time so I picked up a S&W 22A-1 instead. Love it, it's a tack driver.

when i was searching, i went with the S&W 22 A1 as well, and i have really liked it
I have also shot the buckmark extensively and thought it was a pleasure, i was more accurate with my S&W but that could just be because i shoot it more often.

nice rugers, spellchek is your friend.
 
I've had 2 Buckmarks, they are well made accurate guns...I ended up selling them after I got the GSG.

You'd really have to try both to know what you'd like better. if you're into serious bullseye shooting; shoot one shot, lower the gun look at the scope type of guy, than don't bother with the GSG. If you like to do more 'natural' shooting; some double taps or the occasional empty the mag in couple seconds than GSG is for you.
 
I had a browning buck mark silhouette at one time. Very accurate,easy to clean,scoped easily with the factory rail on top...I wish I would have kept it.Kicked my self for selling it ever since...I also have a ruger mk2 heavy barrel right now...but would really like to have the buck back instead..
 
if you're looking towards bulls eye shooting , the 5" / 5.5" barrels would be the better choice . a rail top makes it more versatile , issf & nra . both makes are fine pcs , i'd lean towards the browning though .
 
I have this Buckmark Contour with 5.25" barrel. Very Accurate! Trigger mod is easy. Just Google "Heggis Flip" and you will not regret the result. Don't get me wrong. Both Ruger Mk series and Browning Buckmark series both needs a little work to be better. Both are not so easy to disassemble compared to a 1911 platform (GSG 1911). But for the build quality and reliability out-of-the-box, these pistols are highly recommended. Cleaning? Just use Remington Action Cleaner and lubricate to avoid the hassle of the complete teardown. If you can try holding each one. The Browning wins over the Ruger for many folks due to a more natural angle to the grips and fitting the hand well. I also found that right out of the box the Browning has a nicer trigger. But either one is easily modified with some work or aftermarket parts to become whatever you could wish for.

Looks wise some folks like the rounded simplicity of the Ruger and some like the more "big gun" like looks of the Browning.

It's also interesting that a couple of S&W fans posted. I've shot a couple of 22a's and like those posting above found them to be darn nice and darn accurate. But then, like many, the gun's accuracy is typically more an indicator of the shooter's accuracy. Still, any of the three options, Ruger, Browning or S&W make me tend to look good. As for which fits in my hands the best I'd rate them in order from best on down as Browning URX, Ruger 22/45 with swappable grip scales, S&W 22a then Ruger MkIII.
