What about a petition to make AR's non-restricted?

Well we have had handguns registered since like the 30's and we started a long gun registry that is now over turned and no one got there guns taken away what are you worried about? your just paranoid.

look every one knows about the gun lobby. they would have every gun banned and have no more jails and every one would live happy just smokeing weed and singing john lennon songs.
dont worrie about them. i understand what you are saying but we beat them. there is no threat to our guns right now.
i'm just trying to think of ways that we can all be safe and keep guns away from criminals and some people who shouldent have guns. there has to be a law.

Are you f-ing kidding me? People have had their guns taken away! Recently too, it was all over CGN. Do a search. Get you sh!t straight before you comment.

It wasn't too obvious at first, thought he might just be a moron but he is obviously a troll.....

:feedTroll:

His name will show up in pink soon enough.

the only thing i worry about using the whole "one gun is no more dangerous than the next" line of reasoning is "them" using that line to start up a complete prohibition.

why is the ak-47 banned when the cz isn't?
well #### it, let's ban czs too!

*shudder*

I agree with restriction.I think JTF# should be restricted from using this Site
To spread his anti bull$h¿!. Look forward to seeing his name in pink

Which party is for sustainable use of the environment (fish and wildlife), recognizes the difference between rural and urban lifestyles, remembers that food does not come from the grocery store but something more real, and does not cower in fear that hunting activities feed crime?

I will vote for them if they emerge.

Organized letter writing campaign would be more effective. its simple to set up an online petition and click a button to "sign". Writing letters shows lots more commitment and helps put a person to the statement.

If the PM had a flood of individual letters all within a short time frame on the same issue it would have more effect then reading names off of a web page.

Let me know what to write and I will mail a letter every week. hell I'll mail a letter to a few people every week.

Is this something that the CSSA has any interest in organizing/spearheading? I would be in for such a campaign. I think it would be much more effective to have a large group write individual letters at the same time as opposed to a person sending something in here and there.

I could even deal with the restricted classification, if they would agree to change the ridiculous ATT requirements (for the better) or eliminate ATT's altogether...

How about a drive for CGNers to get RPALs? I don't have mine. That's one thing we can do on this site.

GREAT IDEA!!!

Have a contest on CGN, free AR15 to new RPAL holder. Non RPAL holders all register with the contest on a start date and the first person to get their RPAL wins!!!

Nothing motivates people more than a prize/gift.

The AR could be paid for by sponsoring dealers who will ultimately benefit from the new RPAL holders. I mean since I got my RPAL I just want to buy everything! Also joined an indoor gun range, having a blast all year long.

Next time have a contest just for women, who would love AR 15 if they got to handle one to demystify the "evil assault rifle".

Keep up the fight guys, thanks to you I have an AR15 that I bought last year, the wife too, next the kids!

I have an issue with that, Rewarding people with something they SHOULD already have is not right.

Plus what does that say to the people that already have their RPAL?

Just because you don't want a Pistol or AR (etc) doesn't mean you shouldn't exercise your right to be able to own everything you can, Everyone should have their RPAL.

No rewards for laziness or being a FuDD.

More bees with honey, than vinegar - tactics work, every time.

It's called "buying votes", and politicians do it all the time, why do you think they changed the gun laws to restrict AR15's, 18.5+ barrel length, in the first place, along with prohibiting all the other stuff? Buying votes from a gun fearing public.

So you fight fire with fire, you buy pro restricted gun votes. Even just 100 new RPAL holders encouraged by a $1000 AR15 (NEA15) give away, would only translate to $10 a person. Think Harper is buying votes promising to scrap the LGR? That's why my wife and I voted for him.

The whole point of this thread is to get AR15's non restricted, so you need a strategy to boost it's ownership, and the first step is clearly to get more of them into PAL holders hands.

Someone earlier in this thread mentioned that the division of PAL and RPAL was to simply marginalize handgun owners, etc. I think that's a valid point. If you just had to check a box on your application that you wanted RPAL status along with your PAL, everyone would have an RPAL.

Ultimately you're right you shouldn't "reward" people for not making that extra effort, but that's just not the reality we live in is it? Sure RPAL owners miss out on a contest opportunity, since their status would make them ineligible - but that's missing the contest's point entirely.

It's like night clubs that let women in for free, but charge the guys - not fair, actually illegal - but it helps the club attract the men who pay and club profits, the clubs that resisted this failed or matched the offer because they had no choice.

That's how you win, use the tactics that work.

maybe another idea would be to have 4 classifications. have 1.non-restricted (rifles and shotguns) 2. registerd rifles( any semi auto or rifle that is to short AR,M1,camp guns. but you can still buy with normal pal but the gun would be registerd like we do now.) 3. restricted handguns. 4. prohib.

would u go for that?

Not really. You're talking about arbitrary classifications with no reasoning as to the why it would be beneficial, nor any reasoning as to how it would be implemented, distributed to law enforcement, administrated, or any of the like.

And net effect would be nil. Restricted class vetting and verification is no different then non restricted; it's same background and reference checks as non restricted so you're increasing the work without increasing the gain.

But think of all the useless public servants we could hire...
