What 's the down side of a mid-lenght gas system
what chambering would you be planing to offer???

Not many people using irons anymore, so the sight radius doesn't matter a whole lot.But with a mid-lenght gas system, because of the longer sight radius.
Like these through my new, chrome lined 10.3" 1/9?

I tend to agree with what AbHobbyist says and keep things simple-
If we go overboard trying to make the exact barrel that every single
gun nut out there wants you'll bury yourself in hundreds of different
combinations of barrel length, twist, weight, etc. It will be a nightmare
to keep track of.![]()

1/7 Chrome lined built to milspec ,sure I'd buy a few in different lengths and contours.
These threads are worthless. I should start my own fantasy fiction thread. "Oh hai guiz, I'm considering a project, I'm looking to potentially investigate the possibility of attempting to begin to manufacture a local 7.62x39mm piston Canadian-legal belt-fed FAL clone".
I'm guessing you've fallen asleep at your computer because if I recall, the last time Alberta Tactical Rifle posted a thread very similar to this, we took a ton of orders on AR-15 lowers and they are now in current production. If you haven't heard of Alberta Tactical Rifle, google search us and you will find that we're the fastest growing rifle manufacturer in Canada so, in short, this thread is not worthless since we're the Canadian importer and dealer for Rock Creek barrels and since parts are getting harder to import servicing the Canadian civilian class isn't such a pointless thing to do after all. Now STFU and STFU!!!
With that in mind, and the munitions used, (a 77 grain SMK), and the rate of twist (1-9) would the above results not be considered outstanding??

With a 10.3"?Let's see the one from 500m
Absolutely correct
My understanding is that short barrels and barrels that are threaded are getting harder to import.
To produce some 7.5s, 10.5s 11.5s 14.5s and 16" barrels in either SPR or M4 type configurations may be worth looking into.
The questions I asked were simple.
What length and what twist?
I have no interest in making a bunch of 1 ofs, I have no manner to hard chrome anything, nor would want to.
The plan MAY be to get some 224 caliber stainless 5R barrels in and contour them into normal contours. Standard chambers in standard lengths with pin in place gas blocks and threaded for muzzle brakes/flash hiders, nothing more.
I need to order more barrels for other projects so thought I may order some additional blanks to turn into AR barrels, hence my asking questions.
Oh my good LORD i'm excited!
How about this to start, I was talking to Denny a while back and he cannot keep up with the demand at all, seriously popular, also the BCM, CMMG barrels in this profile just can't keep up:

The OPERATOR is a Dennys Guns/GTS exclusive.
THIS PACKAGE INCLUDES THE BARREL AND GAS TUBE AND DELTA RING ASSEMBLY
The barrel is a 16.1 INCH Mid Length gas. The blanks are Rockcreek(Mike Rock). The barrel steel is 4150 Chrome Vanadium, full auto rated.
These barrels are fully chrome lined, bore and chamber by US Chrome, who does Colt and most other top line tier one manufacturers barrels
1:7 twist.
MP tested.
Proprietary profile, mid weight with a slight taper from chamber to the gas block.
Weight of barrel: 2.5 Lbs approx.
M4 barrel extensions.
F front sight, pinned.
5.56 NATO chamber.
Barrels will be parked under the front sight base.
Threaded 1/2X28(standard M16 thread) A2 flash hider included.
I'm fortunate enough to have this and it preforms extremely well, and its close to the m4 socom, makes my heart glad to know im set for the zombies
If i were to get another however
Full length gas..... i could use a 12" RAIL and still use a pinned fsb if i wanted
18" stainless SPR in 1/7
but true light weight contour, the balance is perfect
And a .22lr option would make me pee...... 4sure
Oh my good LORD i'm excited!
Gentlemen:
With all due respect, I detect a distinct edge to the above request, and if I have misconstrued the above, please feel free to rebut, however, would you both be so polite as to please explain the reasoning behind your request.
I think of myself as an intelligent individual, and I think we would all agree you use the correct tool for the job at hand. With this in mind, when did a 10.25" barreled carbine ever become a precision rifle?? Are not the general purpose/mission parameters of a 10.25 barreled carbines (most of which do not have magnified optics) to function as a CQB tool, within 200 meters or less ?? ?? With that in mind, and the munitions used, (a 77 grain SMK), and the rate of twist (1-9) would the above results not be considered outstanding??
respectfully your
AbH
