Hunt with:

.22 Magnum in 9422M
30/30 in Marlin 336T
30/40 in 1895 Win
45/70 in 1895 Marlin
35 Whelen in Ruger 77

Also use a .260 occasionally which is really just a short 6.5 Swede, so I guess ballistically it's still old ;-)

Every rifle in my locker uses "classic" cartridges:

45-70 (1895 GS Marlin)
7x57 (7mm FN Mauser)
22 Hornet (Zastava with "mini mauser" action/barrel)
22 LR (Savage MKII BTVS)
7.62x39 (a few SKS's)

Hell, 12 guage is pretty well considered a "classic" as well! (Remington 870)

Ted is the Husqvarna Whisperer.

:)Good one. He's definately supplied me with a couple of items I'm well pleased with. On a recent trip he made to the island I had the pleasure of meeting him for very welcome, although brief, introductory visit. I'm hoping the next will be a little longer.

Another individual on site with considerable knowledge on Husqvarna rifles, plus other firearms, is a gentleman who goes on site as Baribal. Two of the finest.

Well I love the .22LR and the 12g...they are old if they count?

EDIT: After re-reading the first post I assume they do not count. I have always like the .303British but I never used my P14 for long because I didn't have enough money for reloading equipment at the time and a box of 20 rounds was costing me almost $30.

Over the years I have used and liked some classic cartridges, and dislike others. On my like list are the .45 Colt, .44 Special & .32.20 revolvers, .22 Hornet, 6.5X55, 7X57, .303 Brit, .30/30, .375 H&H .45/70, .45/90, & .500 NE rifles. My all time favorite rifle cartridge is the .30/06 that just keeps getting better as the selection of propellants and bullets grow. The .300 H&H could, but doesn't take its place. While there are many cartridges I'm indifferent about, there are few cartridges I really dislike, but those I do include .44/40 chambered revolvers and .32 Winchester Special rifles.
