What abouy a 9mm Para bolt action rifle?

Next gov't ban: "Any Firearm Chambered For A Cartridge Intended/Invented For Military Use" Like 9mm Para, 45ACP, 5.56 Nato, 45/70 Govt, etc.

Sole purpose of these rds. are for killing people(they'll use this for an excuse). Some counties have this restriction already.

Already semi happening with restrictions. Their are store that refuse to sell handgun rounds unless you have a RPAL.

I had a 9mm made to give the middle finger to the government, plus there were no commerical ones made. Unfortunately I had issues with getting it to feed, it fed crudely, sometimes, more I tried tweaking the worst it got. I only know of one other person in Canada with one, so probably busy to fix the mag portion. As he was one thar inspired me to want one. I just wasnt as techical as him.
So it's being remade into a single shot.

#### did good work on the adapting the barrel and getting it to shoot. Oops looks like I uploaded the pic of when I was figuring out the front sight height. It has a m1 carbine ear front sight on it now.

I personally would love to see a bolt action in common pistol caliber, or even single shots like H&R/TC.

It is a project I've given some thought. The 222 bolt face is identical to the 9mm / 7.62x25. Barrel change and mag well are only changes needed. As the gun I'm adapting is single stack, and I've got tons of tokarev ammo, I'm using T33 magazines' and a rechambered No.4 barrel.

interesting, pls keep us posted!
I have no interest in one but always like to see stuff others have made. I'm personally more interesed in bubba converting a 12ga pump shothun into a 223 pump rifle,
but that is something for another thread :)

Interesting idea. If we were doing that, I wonder if someone could do a conversion of a Handi-Rifle. They made 'em in .223, so no pressure issues.

A .410 would be cheaper, but they operate at two very different chamber pressures (13,500 PSI vs. 35,000) so that seems unwise.

Well now you're damn near at a 12ga shotgun with a 9mm insert lol

The issue I have with single shots is if I'm going that route I want fancy and a little more takedown power then a 9mm.
9mm is just about the only thing you can afford to shoot for fun these days next to a 22

Problem is not all shotguns are created equal. Some shouldnt shoot the adapters. Also H&R has 2 different frames SB1 and stronger SB2. The SB1 more meant for pistol calibers. SB2 rifle.

I feel like this distinction is important in many discussions, but we're talking about 9mm, a pistol cartridge, so it shouldn't matter if you've got a sb1 or 2?

Hey, Suther. I hear you.

30-30 runs at 33K PSI accordingto SAAMI. 9x19 is 35K. Pretty close, but I'd hate to screw that up. These are both well under, say, 30-06, but still not a realm of human endeavour that richly rewards experimentation. :)

Still wondering if anyone in Canada is a distributor for RIA. I think their little rifle is a proven candidate and comes with a functional mag system.

Back thrust is a factor to consider if installing a barrel or an adapter. As is firing pin diameter.
Back thrust can be calculated by determining the area of the inside of the base of the case head and multiplying that by the peak pressure. Let's say the area was a third of a square inch, and the pressure was 30,000psi. On third times 30k equals 10k. So the back thrust would be 10,000. A small, higher pressure cartridge can produce the same back thrust as a larger, lower pressure one.
A larger diameter firing pin might be OK with a lower pressure round - like a shotgun shell - but is going to produce blown primers with a higher pressure round.

I was hoping ruger would make a 77/9. Anyone else think it would be a hit?

Not at the price those rifles go for these days, $1239usd MSRP is an expensive gun when the PC Carbine is only $779usd.

As long as semi autos are legal in this country I don't see manual actions selling very well, especially when some semi auto options are cheaper.

Even once semi autos get banned in this country I can't see $1500+ 9mm bolt actions selling well. I know I wouldn't buy one, I just don't see the point - the appeal of 9mm to me is that it's cheap, but if the rifle is expensive that kind of defeats the purpose. 9mm isn't much good for hunting, a bolt action isn't much good for self defense, and if it's all about cost than 22lr is cheaper. At least that's my reasoning.
