Hey guys,

I recently bought this AR off the EE, haven't received it yet as Im waiting on ridiculous transfer times, but I was just wondering what model/make the aftermarket parts are on this gun from what you can tell?? I know its an EOtech sight/magnifier, but everything else, i dunno.

Its a Sabre Defence AR.

Thanks,

Thanks. Do you know if those are rail covers on the quad rail? i.e. can they be removed to make the quad rail appear black?

And would that color be considered flat dark earth? Or desert? Thanks.

Looked like rail covers to me...but the fact there is a grip installed on the bottom and the colouring is there also...maybe not covers (unless he removed material to put those screws through). Possibly painted in between. No worries anyhow, handguards aren't very expensive or hard to change (unless you go with a high end name brand).

and yep, that's FDE colour.

Also, is that butt stock CAA as well?

Those are definitely ladder rail covers. They can be cut-down to any length, which is why they're fairly versatile. They provide a really good textured grip. You'll like them - but completely removable if you don't. It's hard to say because every manufacturer has a slightly different colour scheme, but it looks like most of the components are either flat dark earth or tan.

Thanks guys. I've also heard a lotta good things about the sabre defence AR.

Im excited to get this puppy! Now only if those damn transfer times would hurry up!

Youre a braver man than me sir!

I don't think I'd buy a rifle without checking exactly what the parts on it were first. I'd hate to end up with a civi diameter buffer tube when all my parts were mil sized or get a set of PTS sights when I thought I was buying MBUS

Well yeah, I probably should have done that.. But the guy I bought it off is an LEO who had his rifle put together by a local ex military gun smith.. Has less than 100 rounds through it.

It has no Iron sights either, ill be buying my own. so thats irrelevant. I dunno about the buffer tube. Say if it was civi diameter, would I just have to buy a new one? Or would the civi one serve its purpose alright?

Hindsight is always 20-20, and it's not like you're really going wrong with this setup. I have a CAA grip on my AR SBR, and while I'm not big on vertical grips (unless it's for a PDW) - these are popular enough that you can easily find a home. The EOTech +magnifier is a good combo that will probably serve you well.

Unless you absolutely hate the stock and want to replace it, I'd just stick with whatever assembly (commercial or mil-spec) is on the rifle. You'll be about +$75 plus tools/time ahead by keeping the existing assembly.

Insofar as BUIS, you're going to want a folding set so it can fit under the magnifier without having to remove it. A Magpul MBUS set will be the cheapest, but you could also look at a Troy as well (I obviously drink way too much of the Magpul kool-aid, but I have Troys on all my setups).

If that's a commercial receiver extension (buffer tube) and you want to replace the stock in the future, just make sure that you buy a stock that is marked "commercial" instead of "mil-spec" because they are different sizes. The mil-spec receiver extensions are a bit smaller and commercial stocks will fit them with a little bit of loose but the mil-spec stocks will normally not fit a commercial receiver extension.

(I obviously drink way too much of the Magpul kool-aid, but I have Troys on all my setups).

I, too, drink too much of the Magpul kool-aid but I love the way their stuff looks and their products are mostly made of plastic so it's cheaper and lighter. Plus you always have four colour options when choosing, not to mention their stuff is pretty high-quality. Both my AR-15 and 870 are tricked out with Magpul stuff and my future AR-15s will, too. Each rifle will have a different colour scheme. :p

Its true hindsight is always 20-20 haha :p

While im in this thread, what do you guys know about sabre defence ARs? I've heard a lot of good things about them, but I also heard they went out of business... Any experience with them? I'm pretty comfortable in knowing that I am getting a good AR anyways, just curious to see what peoples experiences with them are like.

Looks like a FAB Defense GLR-16 stock.

X2 I have one on my Armalite AR15 only in black. It's a decent stock. Prefer the Magpul CTR but the FAB locks up nice on my rifle without wiggle and is decent. I don't see any point in changing it because it's good. So it will stay on that rifle.
