What am I after??? no comprimise bolt gun.

Drop the $1300 on a CZ or Winchester m70 alaskan, swap the stocks out for a nice composite one, and save some money for a good scope and other goodies you may want for it. It might not be stainless and the barrel is 3" too long but its damn close to everything you wanted.
 
I am not sure on the r93 or r8, are they reliable with something like a dented case or a bit of stray mud? I have owned brownings, winchesters, savages, cz's ect.... I am just getting picky and can find a major flaw with most anything.

I hear you on that last line!

The R93 is the only bolt gun I've had in the last 5 years that hasn't nor will see the EE. Cooper's, Sako's and Kimber's have come and gone, and while they're very nice, there was always something I nitpicked about.

Where does this come from? Seems to be lots of guesses about Blasers and no real experiences. I keep hearing they blow up, and you will not find a single actual account of that having happened. Some say they aren't accurate, some say they aren't reliable, now they don't feed? The feedings perfect. It's a straight feed. No feed ramp. A dented case will do nothing. A dented tip won't do anything.... Sigh... I guess I'm tired of guesses about these guns and they're always to the negative. It's like a major fear or jealousy of the unknown.

thats interesting!

would the blaser be in my price range, is there a stocking dealer in western canada? anyone in southwest sask area have one I could look at?

An R8 or R93 Professional is the base model and would probably run you around $3500 new, then you'd need a QD scope mount, figure another $400-$450. There are far better deals that pop up on the EE from time to time. There was an R93 in 300 WSM on here with Leupold and mount for $2900. Good deal. Also check Ellwood Epps website, they have used ones at good prices sometimes. The big attraction is that you can add calibers by just buying a barrel, magazine insert and bolt head if it's a different caliber family, while keeping the same gun.

Calgary Shooting Centre would be the closest retailer I can think of. I'm sure there are guys in SK and SE Alberta with Blasers, maybe they'll chime in.

I didnt see one on wolverines website but maybe give them a call and see what they can get or maybe have that isnt on their site. They're outta virden, manitoba.
 
My choice, an original Kimber of Oregon. Although they did not have a detachable mag. Workmanship is on par with Dakota and Cooper but can typically sell for less by comparison

Don't forget about the Remington custom gun shop. A friend had one brought up by Epps sporting some years ago and it's quite the piece of workmanship.
