How many times have I seen a For Sale post of someone who has a rifle that they just bought yesterday, never fired, and have for sale today? I've never bought a gun that that I haven't fired, and certainly not one that I just bought new. Is this just people buying on sale and trying to sell for a profit? What am I missing?
Thanks.

Yes, some are buying for a profit. But, as far as not firing it, that is not real unusual. It all depends on the purpose of buying the gun. I have a fair amount of firearms, mostly for collection purposes. Most I bought, of course, are used. Probably 90% of the guns I own have not been fired since I acquired them and I have no intention of firing them. That's just me and there are others like me who don't fire guns bought for collection purposes.

Sometimes the lads with the girlie parts partner ketches them sneaking in the back/basement/front door
with a box.
They haven't lernt the idea of a man's shop out back with the only key in their pocket.
Or it could be the missus wears the pants.

I have never bought a gun that went more then 48hrs of being in my possession and not been shot.
I buy stuff to be used. I get no enjoyment out of owning things for the sake of owning them.

I agree OP. It raises my suspicions too.

However, consider what you've seen on this website. Gun owners make purchases all the time, for very little reason, and generally sell as many as they buy. It's a revolving door for a lot of these guys.

You may be just encountering one of the guys who is constantly buying and selling. Do your homework, but don't be too paranoid.

I have bought a few (but not very many) that I did not fire before reselling. I never bought them to flip but when I got them there was something about them that did not appeal. The fit of the stock or the actual construction of the rifle once it was taken apart or the amount of plastic. These rifles I could have shot or altered them to my liking but I new they would not be a keeper and would be worth more unaltered so I just resold them.

I have wondered the same thing. I also have noticed many that say very little shots fired. And they are never any cheaper than a new one.Makes me wonder if it is a lemon or maybe the person buggered it taking it apart and cleaning it. To me if something is used it should be cheaper than new. I do understand that availability can be a problem with firearms maybe that has something to do with it. For me I think I will stick to new

Sometimes I buy something on impulse, take it shooting and can tell right away if I like it or not. If I don't like it, fit or feel or for whatever reason, I just stop shooting it and sell it. No sense putting lots of rounds down the pipe if it's not for you.
I've got a buddy who regularly orders a gun, recieves it, shoots it once and sells it. I've seen him do it many times, and many times I've purchased said gun from him for a good deal
I think most on here are very good at disclosing problems with a gun, I've never regretted a purchase on the EE, and I find most items are better than described, maybe I'm just lucky, but everyone I've dealt with are stand-up folks. Ask lots of questions, and look at lot's of pic's, do your homework and there are really good deals to be had...on the other hand, there are lots that are way overpriced as well...
Just my 2 cents...Mike
