I know this topic has been covered, but since the search function SUCKS, I cant find the thread

I'm taking a guess here, since the SL8 has a 1:7 barrel twist, Im assuming the G36c, G36k and G36 also has a 1:7 barrel twist.
What ammo do the countires that use these rifles use? The standard 55gr NATO round? Or would they have a heaveir round like a 70 or 75 grain. As we all know, 1:7 twist loves the heavy stuff.

Does anyone make 70-80 grain .223 ammo? Can it be bought in cases like 55gr NATO? Does anyone import it?

With that said. Does anyone have recipts for loading ammo for the SL8. I have 69 grain, 72 grain, 75 grain and 80 grain bullets on the way.

Thanks!

Germany uses the NATO 62 gr SS109 ammunition like every other NATO country . Yes you can by .223/5.56 77 gr ammunition from Blackhills or Federal .BTW 80 gr bullets do not feed from a magazine as the OAL is longer than the magazine

Are you refering to the 80gr bullets? Cause the black hills 77gr feed great from any AR mag I have used so far in my Tavor.

Can anyone else confirm if the 77 grain rounds from Blackhills fit into AR-15 mags and/or SL8 mags?

Where can i get these rounds?

77grainers will fit in an AR mag, all 40 of my AR mags currently carry five rounds of 5.56mm 77gr. BTHP (Mod262Mk1) from Black Hills. This round you will have to look high and low for, probably one of the rarest loads available, but probably the best 5.56 load next to the 75gr. Hornady's to 5.56 pressure.

The 5.56mm stuff is really hard to find, although BH's make loads in 68gr., 69gr., 75gr. and 77gr. to .223 pressures. These loads are a bit easier to find, but nowhere common.

Keep your eyes peeled in the EE forum for these loads, I don't think anyone in the country currently has them in stock.

The easiest 77gr. load to find in Canada would be the .223 Federal Gold Medal SMK. Although velocity is about 180fps less than the 5.56mm stuff, its still one of the best performers in any 5.56/.223 round. The 75gr. Blue Box from BH has superb accuracy as well, it has a good following as it is probably the most accurate of the four BH's loads.

Try special ordering 5,56mm 75gr. TAP (Hornady) product #8126N, its the 75gr. BTHP w/c T2 load. I ordered seven case lots from P&D Enterprises in the fall (talk to Chris).

Good luck.

Cheers.

Before Target-Sports took their webpage and flushed it down the toilet they had their inventory listed, and had some of the fancy swiss .556 listed. But that was too efficient, so now we as sheep are expected to drive an hour to see their inventory with no idea of what is in stock.

If you are rolling your own, check out the handloading forum. Loads for ARs has been done to death several times over.
