What AR to buy?

Range use or competition? I think a lot of people get hardons for AR's they see in the US, and end up spending a fortune for an AR in canada that they use at an indoor range against paper. It's odd when you see people at a 50 yard indoor range with night vision and top of the line scope on a top of the line AR and they are shooting at paper down range.

Since you're probably not doing any real CQB, maybe like a 14.5 inch whatever brand with a decent scope. They're pretty much all the same unless you are shipping out to Afghanistan and taking it with you to raise hell for a couple of months.

My FIBUA/MOUT training and experience saw us firing on targets at ranges of 15-250m and in destroyed terrain, over wreckage and while in blown out rooms, hallways and stairwells. The CQBR is a capable size, but to make effective hits out to 300m in that environment takes training and practice. I'd recommend a t-1, 3 × magnifier and a good light mounted on the rifle. Don't waste time and/or money on night vision fighting systems until you've lined up proper instruction, otherwise you'll be putting yourself and others at risk incorrectly using unfamiliar kit.

Then why do companies like DD, LMT, SPIKES and Noveske make 10.3" Ar15 then?

My experience has been to the contrary in every instance I've used an issued 10.3" or 10.5" bbl carbine (CQBR/Mk18/DIEMACO L119CQBR)), and in my privately purchased civilian carbin,e a civvie version of the same. As I said previously, it does have to be properly tuned.
Muzzle velocity is not a consideration in this discussion operational reliability is. Stay on topic.

In a different thread TDC said there is barley a difference between an 18" barrel and an 11" barrel. Now he is saying the 1" gain is "substantial".
So don't worry what he says lol

Where did I say it was unreliable? I said they're less reliable. Good companies offer good versions but they're still not as reliable as 11.5" guns and they give up substantial velocity.

Do some research, 11.5" ar's offer significant advantages over 10.5" guns. For the addition of one inch, its a no brainer.

So I take it you owned 10.5" Ar15 and had some reliability issues? Or is it something you read 'online'?
I never had problems with my 10.3" ar15.

Neither have the SAS, SEALs, Delta, Special Forces, KSK, JTF2, Xe, Aegis, Sayeret Maktal... Look I don't have all night, so I'll just leave it at that....

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of your help. I think I have decided to get a LE6920. Now trying to decide on which one to get. Can some fill me in between the socom and the Magpul edition LE6920MP??. Is it worth the $400 more?

Which one would you buy?

For around $2000 I would go with PWS. I own 2 of them and my 12 inch 223 has close to 4000 rounds without a failure. They are long stroke piston operated so they run clean and are extremely reliable. Their button rifled barrels are also really accurate. They are just over $2000 new and just under for a lightly used one on the EE.
My second one is a 9.75 inch in 300 blackout and only has a few hundred rounds through it but it has been 100% when I run appropriate ammo through it. I've had plenty of failures during load development while figuring out which powders work best with different bullet weights but now that I have that figured out it's running perfectly.
