Hi,

I'm new to this website/group and have a question regarding which AR 15 is best to get for a fair price. Ive been a target shooter for years through work. But I still don't consider myself well versed in firearms reputations. Right now im looking at RRA LAR. good reputation decent price.

and what about stag arms?

any info or response is appreciated

You will be well served with either. Or a Bushy, Armalite,Colt (over priced).
There are even people that have had good success with the Norinco's.

From researching on the internet, I see Colt AR's are not much more expensive that other AR manufacturers in the U.S. (couple hundred dollar difference)

Why such a large difference in price in Canada?

Yeah, Norc M4 is not bad. Esp for $699! Can buy yourself 1.5-2 crates of ammo right off the bat with money saved buying Chinese.

BTW, I have Norc M4. It ain't pretty up close but shoots the same as my cousin's RRA AR-15.

No one is going to know the difference anyway from 1 meter and beyond. :)

Whats the best site for 556/223 ammo surplus or Factory.

I haven't researched much on factory ammo. I plan to reload my own once I buy the dies, swagger, etc. However, check SFRC - prices should be very fair. theammosource.com (site sponsor). I bought 2k of once fired 223 brass from him.

I think surplus ammo (556) supposedly cost more if you can find them. The Norc M4 can shoot both. Actually meant for 556. :)

Unless you are dead set on an AR-15 you may like to look into the vz858 offering. You can save quite a bit of cash on rifle/ammo and range fees. Although an AR-15 is necessary in any serious wardrobe.

What distances are you planning on using this for?

FWIW I have a Stag carbine and it works well for CQB and such, but is lacking at 500m, although it's adequate at that distance with hand loads and 75gr projectiles.

haha sorry im a newb at all this. Anywhere from short range to 400m..it wouldnt just be for one distance. and norc as in a norinco??

No worries. Just easier for the guys to help ya if they know the application. The Norc is not a bad entry level rifle. I don't own one, but have shot with some guys that do use them and they work ok.

Are you planning to compete with it? or just static target type shooting?

Well, then the Norc (Norinco) might not be a bad choice. Figure out what you want to do, get used to the platform and then upgrade as necessary! :)

It's only got a 16 barrel IIRC. So longer distances will need heavier projectiles.
