Hey guys.

So i went to an outdoor range today and took my norc ar to 100 yards using a bushnell trs25.
I had about 7inch groupings and it only got worse the at further distances. My question is should i get a magnifier to get better groupings because it was quite hard to see the target at times. Or any suggestions?
What are you using for your ar?

Sorry for the complete noob question. I want to start long range. Never shot at 100 before.

first thing ammo? position ? dot size 3 or 5 moa and how bright was your dot set?

That's a pretty good for 100m and standing! Would be interesting to shoot a group from the bench immediately after and see the difference in your results.

hah well now i dont feel so bad. i thought it was really bad. next time i head out ill try sitting down. see what i can get.
thanks for the responses!

They would probably be half the size or less. 7MOA standing is actually pretty decent. If you think about it, maintaining 7MOA, you'd be capable of getting a 2nd round hit on a man sized target at 300yards... Standing.

That's good for a standing group.
Buy a gun rest and a bag for under the stock and your groups will shrink. You can also make shooting bags with breadbags inside gym socks full of sand.
Better ammo and a magnified scope with a fine reticle will shrink the groups even more.
Don't get your hopes up too high though, a norc with a 14.5 inch barrel is never going to give better than 2-3 inch groups at 100yds but that isn't bad for a short AR with a cheap barrel. Some are better than others though and if you get lucky and find ammo it likes you may get slightly better results.

No matter what gun you use the further you go the bigger the groups. No way around that one.

Good luck
