what are 5 main things to do to maintain a semi auto shotgun

Do some research and get o-ring and other spares at a good price .. read all you can on common problems .. if you read enough it will be easy to seperate the rants from the solid information .. follow up with some utube vids on disasembly tips .. lots of idiots post on utube so do your reading first and the junk vids will be easy to spot .. do a search on here as there are very good posts across all subjects re spacific models ...

If your unit has a twin pump model .. be carefull you follow the mag rules for semi auto .. the pump guys have a lot more room and posts on mag extentions can get very confusing ..I am sure you know this , but others may read this post.

Not true, I have seen trigger mechanisms jammed up badly, because they were sprayed with oil, and then exposed to dust. Spray on oils are even worse with rifles, as they flow onto the bedding surfaces, and can cause accuracy issues.

I have witnessed that situation on multiple occasions. WD-40 and dust makes a terrible combination. I never use WD40 on my firearms for any reason.

:agree: It should not be promoted as a lubricant regardless of what their advertisements infer.

just got my first gun, the semi auto. jacked up. looks sweet, feels good. will comment a little more a little later.

do you guys practise to shoot on both sides or is it better to stick to one side? i'm mainly lefty but because i have never really shot a real gun before, the right doesn't feel so bad either.

the gun looks so sweet, i think my wife will be jealous that i'm having an affair. lol

totally jacked right now!!! 40 year old dream just came true today!!!

I'm actually not to sure. Feels better on the left but doesn't feel to awkward on the right. Does everyone feel like this.

Have you actually tested tom see which eye is dominant?
Point your right index finger at a light switch across the room with both eyes open and close your left eye, then try it again closing your right eye.
The one that doesn't make the light switch jump one way or the other when the opposite eye is closed is your master eye.

Cat, when i do that, using my left eye open, the light switch is on target. when i switch to my right eye open, index finger hasn't moved, the light switch is over a few inches. looks like i'm left eye open dominant.

thanks Cat

going to wait for a sale to buy ammo. don't have a safe for that yet. have one for the gun but not the ammo. put a trigger lock on it and put the gun in the safe. should i clean it? Martin, the supplier ran 10 rounds through the gun. not sure if he cleaned it after. going to let the gun sit for a few weeks or so, until the sale at sail starts. apparently there is a sale at sail just before turkey season opens so……… even the cleaning kit i want to try and get the sale but if you guys say its important to clean it right away then i'll go do that.

sweetness. i guess if its jamming, it hasn't been cleaned properly right? what sounds are you talking about? more specific.

so……..no oil or solvent on the wood obviously. bore solvent and bore oil only to clean and lube the barrel . and rem oil and solvent to clean all the other metal parts of the gun. is this correct?

want to make sure she is wet and ready when its time to penetrate at the range. lol

If you are going to store the shotgun in a safe, a trigger lock is not required. And ammunition does not need to be stored in a safe.
