Don't have EE access yet, but what do M1 Garands go for on here? Are they rare to come by or not?

Don't care too much about a mint collectors piece, just a shooter that's in good functioning condition, either 30-06 or a .308

Thanks in advance

Not at all rare, they show up on a daily basis.

As a guy who bought his rusty, sewer-piped Garand for $125 in 1996, the prices today are really galling. Nothing goes under $1500. Decent condition guns go for $2,000 to $2,500.

This one is on the EE right now, described as excellent restored condition with an aftermarket stock, asking $3K:

And a lot of them have been cobbled together from miscellaneous parts by amateur enthusiasts.

Prices are actually all over the place depending on quality, age, and amount of original parts. I bought a '43 receiver with a '45 barrel on it (rest of parts period correct) and newer wood for $2400 a month ago. Took it out last week after a deep clean and was pinging 2/3 IPSC metal targets at 100m no issues with no real discipline. Garand costs right now are defined by three major things.

1. What the seller wants

2. What they buyer is willing to haggle to

3. Condition and amount of original parts.

This will cause prices to range from rarely sub $2000 to $3000 and change. Depends on the day, the moon, and the person.

There's an Italian arsenal conversion to 7.62x51 for sale for less than $2k right now. Need help getting in contact with the seller?

This is an excellent point. Before buying a Garand (or any Milsurp really) really read and learn as much as you can. A USGI rifle rebuilt/overhauled by the US Government while in service is potentially a very different rifle from someone’s home assembled rifle, and the price should reflect that.

Some guys can assemble outstanding rifles and really know what they are doing - others don’t.

Been looking to get one for a while myself as well...I keep dipping into my gun fund though for other guns or gun related projects...It amazes me how much the prices have increase in the last couple years for them though.

Paid I think $2500 for a complete international harvester in original stock with an LMR barrel,

from a friend who also had a Springfield around serial number 11,000.

the prices on the EE are out of their minds the only one I'd consider paying close to the asking is the winchester garand

bought most of mine when they were $149 -199.99 and you got a deal if you bought a few they had them in barrels rummage through and pick what you wanted
