So, I want to hear from all the lefty's out there! What are you using to shoot IPSC? I would like to shoot production or open, but am having a hard time finding
a pistol that will set up with ambi mag release AND safety!
Any opinions?

I shoot a CZ SP01 for IPSC and the mag release is easily changed over to left. As well, the safety comes as ambi.
By the way, a great gun to shoot in production class. Especially with the extra weight of the full dust cover.

Use your trigger finger to press the mag release.

+2. Once you get used to it you will find you even use it on pistols with an ambi mag release. If you can master using it on the left, it is one less control you need to worry about fumbling with.
The only controls I look to operate reliably without too much hand contortion as a lefty is the slide release (#1) and thumb safety (if the pistol has one).

Last year I shot an XD-40. This year I'm going with a Glock 17.
I am running an extended mag button on the Glock and the XD is completely stock except for Dawson Precision F.O. sights.

Get a gun without a safety.

I moved the mag release to the right side of my M&P and hit it with the middle finger on my strong (right) hand. Works like a charm.

Glocks are popular, as are M&Ps. I ran a Walther P99 for years and it's pretty much ambi as well.

I have stubby fingers and I cannot use my trigger finger comfortably to drop my mags. It doesn't work well with my middle finger either. I don't want to have to change my grip to drop my mags.
Does anybody know of any good open or standard pistols that have what I'm looking for?

M&P or CZ type.

and thread locked as you already have this thread going in the Pistols area.
