what are some reliable tips to store ammo for years?

Eight pounds of silica. Who cares if I have to replace every 2-3 months. I'll be good for I think a decade. Lol

This is what I use but,I can't find the 8lb bag anymore. whatever, It's 9$ for 4lbs. It has a coloured crystal that changes when saturated.

As a control I put a small amount outside the ammo can and it the blue crystals change after about a month. Keep in mind this is pretty much exposed. Once in the ammo can and sealed I'm pretty sure this stuff will keep the contents dry for a long time. I've only used it for 8 months so I can't comment on anything longer than that.

These are the Fifty Cal M2A1 ammo cans from CanadaAmmo. Full of 2,000 147gr 9mm ammo it's 67 pounds of fun :)

Jeebuz, I'll pass on those. Looks like it's the 30 cal cans for me, I want to be able to lift AND carry them if needed. :d

Many thanks!

ammo doesn't need to be in a safe but needs to be separate from the gun right in storage? i thought the ammo needed to be on a lock system.

when you transport your shot gun to wherever, you just need a trigger lock on it right? ammo can just be in a can or does it need to be locked up. I'm getting the 50 calibre military cans just in case they go off.

lotta rules to follow which is good but just want to make sure everything is done by the book. the consequences for being naive are serious and they should be. so many rules though , you wonder wether it will be worth it, especially with the cost involved but i'm sure when all said and done with, exploring what it means to own a gun will create many fun experiences.

live life with no regrets!!

is it illegal to handle your gun on your property inside and outside . as long as you have a trigger guard on it, is this ok.

or does it have to be stored at all times unless your transporting it, shooting at range or a hunt?

it would be nice to practise handling it, different positions , playing with trigger, loading it with snap caps.

You don't need to lock up your ammunition. You also don't need to have a trigger lock on a non restricted firearm while transporting it. And ammunition doesn't just go off. Of course you can handle your firearm in your home, and it does not have to be trigger locked while you are handling it. How else would a person clean and work on their firearms in their home?

I find it very disappointing that some people are issued a PAL, and yet they know so little about our firearms laws.

Oh, I see.

BTW - I have to leave in a few minutes, I going on a date with Shania Twain, in my Ford, err Ferrari. Yea, that's the ticket.

Did the course in November stubble.

Just getting caught up that's all. Picking a few brains in the process. Nothing wrong with Coles notes.

Besides there is a lot of other things in life more important then guns. But perhaps you haven't figured that out yet.

Being issued a PAL means that you should already know how to safely and legally handle , store, and transport firearms. If you don't understand the firearms regulations, you should not be issued a PAL.

Since you seem to know it all you should know that ammunition is not regulated by the firearms act in any way shape or form. Ammunition is regulated by the explosives act. And as such is not taught on the PAL course.

You of all people should know the PAL course is a joke and largely useless.

Actually there are regulations in the Firearms Act that relate directly to ammunition, regulations that deal with storing ammunition with firearms, or having ammunition loaded into a firearm. Yes many courses are lacking, but if a person makes any effort to read up on the Firearms Act, it isn't difficult to learn the basic regulations. However many people only care about getting a PAL and could care less if they actually learn the regulations.

I want to know everything there is to know but there is a lot of info. Especially when your starting out. Just wish you could be a little more supportive instead if being a prick stubble. Shawn it's not the first time he's been like this either. I guess in life there is always mr know it alls out there. Stubble your just showing others that you have no class. If you know everything why even comment. Just go away.

Appreciate it Shawn.

I am very supportive of people that show that they are willing to put in some effort to learn. It's usually quite easy to tell who is putting in the effort by their posts, as those people have taught themselves the basics, and just need a little coaching on the less known, or more obscure regulations. In your case, it's very obvious that you are far from understanding even the most basic regulations.
