My thoughts on Best boots
First you need to decide still hunting or stalking, fall or extreme cold weather.
All boots need to be 100% water proof so don,t buy into lasting a lifetime. Probably 8 weeks of actual field wear or three years and the waterproof layer has probably been worn out, they are just plain broke now not broke in. That being said they better feel right, offer good support, fit snug at the heel right out of the box or put them back. I hate speed laces for stalking they seem to catch on way too much stuff, but they seem to be the norm for atleast the top 5 eyes of most boots.
So consider the use you intend (higher the thinsulate number the warmer). Then put the same quality, sock in your pocket when you go to try them on and if they don't feel right walk away salesmen will "say they will stretch" when boots do that they are done.
Keep searching you want to enjoy your time afield not cursing your wet, cold, aching feet.
Thats my wordy nickles worth Good Luck Jan
