What you you recommend for reloading manuals for the 30-40 Krag and 44-40? I'll be reloading for a new 1895 carbine rifle and a new 92 in 44-40 rifle.

Thanks in advance.

Check the powder mauafactures website for powder specific loading data, its the most up to date and current data available.

Every modern reloading manual you will find, will have 44-40 very light loadings, adapted to be safe in the old 44-40 revolvers.
Presumeably you have a 44-40 rifle. unless you want cream puff loads for it, you will have to find an old loading chart, which was for 44-40 rifles.

My old Ideal #38 (1951) manual has some great loads for both the .30-40 and .44-40.

.44-40 : 200 gr jacketed bullet with 29 grs 4227 = 1890 fps
200 gr jacketed bullet with 23.5 grs 2400 = 1700 fps
210 gr cast bullet with 26 grs of 2400 = 1900 fps ( I've fired this load in an original Winchester M92 and a friend used it in a Marlin M94).

.30-40: 150 gr jacketed bullet with 42 grs 3031 = 2665 fps
180 gr jacketed bullet with 36.5 grs 3031 = 2345 fps
180 gr jacketed bullet with 46 grs of 4350 = 2478 fps
220 gr jacketed bullet with 44 grs 4350 = 2330 fps
