I bought this mosin nagant and cleaned it up and it says 1943 on it. Would it have seen any action or would it have lived in a crate for the last 70 years?

Considering the Russian sent their forces too the front line with one rifle for every two men sometimes. I think it pretty good it saw some.

Sometimes it is possible to learn a bit about the history of a rifle.
Chap had a 91/30 with the mark of the Barcelona Arsenal on the stock. The rifle must have been supplied to the International Brigades, then captured by Franco's Fascists. These were sold as surplus in the '50s.
Even more interesting is a Ross IIIB with the Barcelona mark. Made in Canada, supplied to the British during WWI, supplied to the Whites during the Russian Civil War, captured by the Bosheviks, supplied to the Canadian Mac-Paps during the Spanish Civil War, captured by the Fascists, sold off surplus at the same time as the 91/30 was. There were 200 of these that came to North America.

I'd say there's a pretty good chance that a '43 Mosin saw combat on the Eastern Front.

At that time, the Russians were still locked in a see-saw battle with the Axis (up until July '43 anyway) for the initiative on the Eastern Front.

1941-43 most likely saw combat the Russians were desperate for weapons, if its not matching it saw combat, if it was rufurbed it saw combat, if the bore is not new it saw combat. By it saw combat I mean chances are 99.999999% that it did.
