Sometimes it is possible to learn a bit about the history of a rifle.
Chap had a 91/30 with the mark of the Barcelona Arsenal on the stock. The rifle must have been supplied to the International Brigades, then captured by Franco's Fascists. These were sold as surplus in the '50s.
Even more interesting is a Ross IIIB with the Barcelona mark. Made in Canada, supplied to the British during WWI, supplied to the Whites during the Russian Civil War, captured by the Bosheviks, supplied to the Canadian Mac-Paps during the Spanish Civil War, captured by the Fascists, sold off surplus at the same time as the 91/30 was. There were 200 of these that came to North America.
