What are the chances WK180c is going to be banned?

I really want one, but having gone through buying a Troy 102, then immediately having it banned.

I'm hesistant... Is it not banned due to an oversight or what's the deal?

It’s not an expensive firearm by firearm standards but it is expensive for some . Nobody has a crystal ball so will it be banned or not is very hard to say . Imo if u can afford to burn $1500 go for it and what happens happens . If you consider that a big amount then your better off not buying it

I'd say its pretty much a guarantee if the Turd wins the next election....:(

Well if they propose to ban airsoft "firearms" with the recent Bill C-21 .....this indicates nothing is going to be ok to own in the near future . Nothing.

Not buying a rifle like these is what they want.

Buy it and let them figure what happened to it.

Only Liberal Fools and their Pony Soldiers can ignore the compliance percentages in New Zealand. It's about destroying Canada while protecting their Government pensions and taking our money, not anyone's safety!

I bought one earlier this year, very well knowing it can end up on a banned list.

I don't care. Happy to exercise my right to buy the firearm I want and more importantly support a Canadian company supplying jobs for my fellow Canucks.

I have saving up for an IWI X95 and won't care if it is banned the day after I buy it. I am not going to let the government dictate whether I second guess buying this or that because of whether they will ban it. That's what they want - to install uncertainty, fear and ambiguity so gun owners have second thoughts.

I have been regularly going to my LGS and supporting them through regular purchases, much more than I have in previous years (it helps that the kids are older and I no longer am married to an anti-gun ex). Trudeau and company will not discourage me in any way through their draconian actions.

Why did I buy the WK? Because I can. As long as something is available, I will exercise my right to purchase my firearm.

As others have said, can't live in fear.

If, Maker forbid, the WK180-C was banned, its base price is low enough you should get most of its value back on a buy back, in the absolute worst case scenario.

Yeah, I have resolved to not even entertaining biting on any offers. Reason being is multiple-fold but the primary ones are these:

1. I never thought I'd be able to own a NR black rifle. Years ago when I was into air rifles and such, the only guns that I saw that were NR that looked somewhat tactical still had the big traditional rifle stock, and I remember looking at a somewhat black rifle by Ruger - and it was a 22LR but it was restricted (this was 2009/2010 timeframe). Back then I don't recall this much selection in black rifles. So I'd keep mine just because it's a cool gun made in Canada that I'd never thought I'd be able to own.

2. I don't need the government wondering what else I have available. I only have a NR PAL, so don't need to bring back memories of the LGR again by giving the government information I don't need to

3. One day, as history has shown, this party and its leader will be out the door. Who replaces him who knows, but I would hate for it to be a pro-gun party who reverses all this nonsense but by then some of these companies may not be making these guns anymore (plus who knows what the buying selection will be like).

I realize everyone has to do what's best for them and their families, so I don't think there's really any one-size-fits-all position here.

Unpopular opinion: it will definitely be banned. In fact I suspect it was intentionally left off the OIC. I suspect it will be used as the poster child for how the Canadian firearms industry is attempting to skirt the government rules. It could be used to justify their claim that the firearms laws need to be continually updated and always evolving. It could be used to justify more bans that include anything with scary stuff like telescoping or folding stocks, detachable magazines, pistol grips, etc.

It’s impossible for them to ban the AR-10 and ATRS rifles but miss the WK. They aren’t stupid, they’re just #######s.

That being said, it shouldn’t keep you from buying one. Buy ten.

Regretfully, I have to concur with you. How the Mini14 makes it on that list but the WK doesn't - but hey, I don't care, that was impetus enough for me to buy one even though I probably overpaid. I wonder whether the feds didn't add a Kodiak product to their ban list as it has a direct impact on Canadian jobs, whereas they may not be as sensitive impacting US manufacturers.

If Trudeau is re-elected , pretty much a 100% chance that it will be banned in the next couple of years , if not sooner , as all semi auto center fires will eventually be on the Liberal OIC hitlist . Of course there will be the buyback option , and maybe a Grandfathering option as well ; but most importantly , it is not a restricted firearm , so if you did buy , the govt. does not really know if you have it or not as there is no LGR . If you really want one , now might be the time to get it before it is too late .

Midnight Rider is spot on. I think we all know the type of firearms the feds are targeting. Which is why many of them are sold out everywhere. When a store gets a shipment it is gone within 4 hours. And the fact that you can own one and it is not on any kind of government radar (and you want to keep it that way) is a huge plus. I feel bad for my fellow gunnut brothers and sisters who have PAL with Restricted endorsement who the government has record of what they have. I know some RPAL folks who are buying NR firearms now for the exact reason MidnightRider highlighted. In my view, the decision to buy a Canadian black rifle for a NR PAL holder should be a no brainer.

Well they did ban the bcl 102 rifles so they don’t care about killing Canadian businesses

Ultimately and eventually Liberals want all firearms banned.... so its a realistic possibility for any gun you own or want to own in the future.

My prediction for the next decade is that they will go to great lengths to convince unknowing Canadian masses that PRS and F Class guns meet or exceed Mil-Spec Sniper Rifles, and someday in the future Emperor Potato Head will hold a press conference and say the altered sound bite ........ wait for it ......

"there is no place for military style sniper rifles in Canadian Society... you do not need a rifle like this to take down a deer..... we are doing this while being mindful to the traditions of hunters..... etc "

Anyone want to wager a bottle of scotch that this will happen in at least the next 10 years ?

If your heart is set on a WK, then buy it and enjoy it ... then sell it to this Mike guy... he lives in Canmore and operates a "Black Rifle Refugee Camp".... Mike is a Saint for rescuing all these endangered Black Rifles. He really is doing God's work on Earth.
