Midnight Rider is spot on. I think we all know the type of firearms the feds are targeting. Which is why many of them are sold out everywhere. When a store gets a shipment it is gone within 4 hours. And the fact that you can own one and it is not on any kind of government radar (and you want to keep it that way) is a huge plus. I feel bad for my fellow gunnut brothers and sisters who have PAL with Restricted endorsement who the government has record of what they have. I know some RPAL folks who are buying NR firearms now for the exact reason MidnightRider highlighted. In my view, the decision to buy a Canadian black rifle for a NR PAL holder should be a no brainer.
I buy both R and NR guns - it does not matter to me, since I got range membership I no longer go in the bush anyways. In fact, I have more of R and love them more due to better ergonomics. As much as I hate current politics around guns, I'm trying to understand this rhetoric about NR being a better option. I do have NR which are currently banned, so what? I cannot shoot them same as R. What is the difference? Bury newly-illegal unreported NR in the woods as opposed to force-selling R to JT? In both scenarios you don't have a gun which you can legally own and use. If I would be really into owning prohib gun, why bother with those nosy barreled NR semis - might so buy and keep full-auto AK and be happy with it. No difference from legal prospective and jail time, but more fun to have it.
