I would pay $1k for a receiver set or buy an RDB again before I picked up a VZ, mini 14 or an MR1.
I have an RDB, and while I like the design and ergos on it, I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than fun at the range. It's highly unreliable.

Hey that’s a neat set, I guess you would need the smallest bit to remove what’s left of the take down screw? Not very difficult with these

Are the Heli coils locked in with red lock tite?
Is there enough material to open up for a larger Hel-coil/screw, if one wanted to?

I started with tuning gas setting. Without that it wouldn't cycle a single round. Had all kinds of double feed and chewing up live rounds. Now it just occasionally locks the bolt open when the mag still has rounds in it.Have you ever tuned the gas setting?

Funny how the tried rifle you name have many known case of issues! Many vz 58 had many manufacturing defects, mini 14 with crappy accuracy, I had one with ftf and fte and well the MR1 is just crazy ergos.
It’s crazy that people are paying 1k for an almost AR15 reciver, when the real deal can be bought for $50 USD. Really shows how we get gouged in Canada. Anyways I’d stay away from the gimmick rifles ‘rdb, wk, anything bcl’ and go with the tried and true, VZ in 556, mini 14 or maybe the MR1.
To each there own , the rdb is a good gun. Being a kel tec hater is just the hip thing to do.You do know the number of issues the rdb has right? Constant failures and if you don’t believe me just look up American forums it’s well documented. The new mini’s are mint no accuracy issues, and you probably don’t own a 556 VZ as it was only one batch in 2015 that was overgassed. But by all means buy meme rifles instead of perfectly fine ones.
That is a BluePoint screw extractor set you get from the SnapOn guy. I don't remember exactly what I paid for mine but IIRC it was around $200. So someone wanting to fix one broken screw on a receiver set most likely won't want to buy a set just for that.
But this type of extractor works 100X better than the other tapered spiral bits. The tapered ones put outward pressure on the broken bolt as you turn them in and can actually tighten up a stubborn one and make it harder to get out.
The straight ones shouldn't have any affect on the helicoil. I've taken a few broken bolts out that have been put in using a helicoil and had no problem. No idea if the helicoil on these receiver sets is loctited in or not. My SLR doesn't seem to be anyways.
And yeah, you'd use the smallest bit from the set because the takedown bolt is only a 1/4x28tpi x 1"
It's a cool gun. It's a gun with interesting action. It's a kind of gun that should be featured on Forgotten Weapons. To each there own , the rdb is a good gun. Being a kel tec hater is just the hip thing to do.
Haha meme rifles.... yeah thats all I have![]()
I have put down plenty of coyotes with my WK180. I've shot it enough to know it's a solid 2 MOA rifle with what I feed it and I've yet to have a malfunction. Your experience may vary. If you don't like the WK, get the new one from Wolverine.

Good gun? Not even close.
It sucks that you had a poor experience with it. I had one, which I sold to fund a 308 rifle, but IMO the RDB is the best bullpup NR 223 offering, and perhaps one of the best 223 offerings that can be had when you factor in cost vs value.
I was able to routinely run it through hard range sessions with 300+ rounds of 556 ammo per session with no malfunctions. What I found is that more often than not operator error or poor manipulation (short stroking) the charging handle was responsible for any issues that I’ve seen. The only two things I did to the gun when I first got it were to lock tite the pic rail and I had to adjust the gas system slightly to get a softer recoil impulse and still make it eject reliably. That took all of 10ish rounds.
As far as accuracy goes, I’m not sure if I’d hunt farther than 200m with it but, with bulk 556 ammo I would see anywhere from 1.5-3 MOA and with match ammo between 1 and 2 MOA depending on ammo (69gr FGMM shot right about 1 MOA).
Ergonomics on the RDB were easy to learn and not terribly different for me.
I can’t stress enough, how reliable I think this gun was for me. On par with my DD AR.
For the OP,
If the coyote is anything close to the bcl mk7 I would say that is your best value option.
