Looking at a Primos from Optics Planet but they would not ship.
Now my interest is peeked and have been weighing between the two.
Primos model would be about $325 delivered from Amazon.ca
How many features are required?
How easy is it to download other calls?
What are you using and what would you upgrade to from your current model?

i have used both the base model foxpro and primos (wildfire2 and powerdog) and so far i would give the edge to foxpro.
foxpro hits. lots of information online, easy to download more sounds, sounds are cheap. EXTREMELY good customer service from them after i lost my remote and had to order a new one. sound quality seems to be better than primos.
foxpro misses. remote is hard to operate with gloved hands, volume control not very fast.

primos hits. call and remote attach for easy storage, adjustable speaker head, remote is easy to operate with or without gloved hands, great range of volume control.
primos misses. certian sounds are very "tinny" and dont sound that great, not as great selection of sounds from factory, sounds are more expensive online.

have yet to have to deal with primos customer service.

if i were to upgrade i would buy a higher end foxpro with the newer remote.

ICOtec GC500!

For only $190 shipped to my door I am extremely impressed. I was going to purchase a Primos Turbo Dogg until I found too many bad reviews about Primos electronic calls so I started searching for alternatives and discovered nothing but praise for the GC500.

-remote attaches to call for transport
-decoy jack
-very loud and clear sounds
-I have tested my wireless to 200 yards
-easy to use illuminated remote with raised buttons for gloves

Foxpro is really the innovator in e-caller technologies. Awesome customer service . Sounds are easily downloadable. Proven success in the field. If you can afford it get a midrange caller you won't be disappointed. I went low end and I think I have sacrificed volume. But caller works great. The midrange model foxpro's offer some nice features the I wish I had. Ie foxbang, nicer remote, more sound selection and programmability. Check out the "predator master forum" in the electronic caller section tons of reviews on both the primos and foxpro's.... Foxpro get the advantage 90% of the time.

Foxpro are mentioned so often simply because they're the pioneers of digital sounds and wireless remotes for electronic calls. They gained their reputation back when the only other options were callers that used cassette's, cd's or sound cards with a wired remote. They deserved to be called the best back then and one could justify spending a few hundred bucks on a Foxpro because they were the only ones offering internal sound storage and wireless remotes. Foxpro is living in the past and they shouldn't be charging so much money these days when there are so many call manufacturers offering similar products.

Keep in mind that electronic calls are basically just waterproof MP3 players with horn speakers and remotes and are not complicated at all.

Let's compare my cheap ICOtec GC-500 ($190) to a Foxprop Fusion ($600):

-both have wireless remotes with the ICOtec having MUCH farther range...point ICOtec
-adding sounds to both is the exact same...tie
-both have the exact same sound quality...tie
-both have a jack to control a decoy...tie
-both have raised button remotes that illuminate...tie
-thousands of sounds are available online for both...tie
-Foxpro holds 1000 sounds, ICOtec holds 200. Point Foxpro, but who really needs or will use 1,000 different sounds?
-ICOtec is far cheaper and you could buy the GC-500's for the price of one Fusion...point ICOtec
-Foxpro offers foxbang...point Foxpro

When you compare different calls side to side it's extremely easy to see that Foxpro units are very overpriced as they're still pricing their units as if they're the only quality call maker around like they were 5-10 years ago. When you compare these two units side by side the only significant difference is the Foxbang feature. I don't know about you guys, but paying $400 more just to have that feature and to say I have a Foxpro just isn't worth it.

If you ever need any service you will wish you went Foxpro. I had battery issues with my FoxPro Fury II and after a quick chat with them they personally charged and checked a new set w/ holder and express posted it to my door..no charge. These guys are all hard core predator hunters like us not some factory in China pumping out product with zero support.
My days off work are spent hunting coyotes and what I make on fur easily covers the best foxpro caller, if you are very casual...you should be ok with a Primos.

Cheers!!

All I can say is foxpro cust service is good. Had a problem with sound card and they shipped me a new one no questions asked. Something else to note though. There are only certain online retailers "authorized" to sell their stuff. If you do not buy from one of them "in theory" you have no warranty. Check out their website for details.

I ponied up the couple extra dollars for the wildfire 2 that has foxbang. I can't say foxbang has really helped me in the least yet and have accidentally set it off tapping the remote against the stock a couple of times.

When I used them for warranty they didnt even ask me where I bought or ask me to provide proof of purchase.

Same here. But they do state it on their website. Mine was not purchased from one of their approved online retailers.

The wildlife remote is hard to use with gloves on though. Their higher end remote has a much better range and I'm guessing better buttons. I believe the screen is larger as well.
