I should have put something beside for size reference. They are about the width of a pencil, the head is smaller than a dime and they only weigh 22 grams. So maybe a fishing weight but not a decoy weight.

could be weights off a net some of the fisherman down this way cast some weried shape net weights that curve like fish or bait cause they think the weights scare fish.

Everyone's got it wrong, i'm an expert in these things, they are bit's and pieces of weather balloon, that's right, a weather balloon, nothing else.
Exactly, I figured someone would have seen these before.
Finding lead is I think better than finding brass.
Without being too graphic, they are victorian era ### aids. You place them, where you might imagine they go, and then have a very enjoyable time with that special person whose company you truly enjoy. It wasn't until years later they discoered the aphrodiasiac quality was actually a form of lead poisoning. The head of the snake, made sure they could be retrieved when you were finished, what looks like writing is actually texturing, as these were the french tickler models.

I don't know SFA about any of it.
But apparently unlike the collective genius of CGN, I *DO* know how to open google images, type in "lead snake" and match pictures though.
It was the the second friggin image returned.....it aint rocket science..

And my answer would be that *if* you took the time to click the link I posted, you would see that they are sold (and assumably used?) in quantities of 27, 54, and 108
