hello,

a friend of mine just got 2 rifles from is father, and he is interested in what they are worth. He doesn't seem interested in selling, but he is curious.

1) Winchester Cheyenne carbine.
30-30
in original box

2) Winchester Sioux carbine
in original box, with original info booklet, and original gun case which looks to be made for putting on a saddle
forget what caliber it was, but not a 30-30

both rifles are in 100% condition, NEVER BEEN FIRED

thanks

The trick is finding somebody who wants either. Other than the stampings, there's nothing special about either. Commemoratives have proven to be a lousy investment. Mind you, BNIB makes a huge difference.
Both were sold in Canada only.
There's something screwy about a Winchester Cheyenne carbine(1977) in .30-30. Listed as only coming in .44-40. (13000 mfg. Engraved bright gold plated receiver, medallion in stock, 20 " round barrel, tang sight.) BNIB, Stateside, they're listed as being worth around $895US on The Winchester Collector's site.
The Sioux(1976) is listed as being a .30-30, only. Worth the same, Stateside. Came with a suede leather scabbard.
Suspect he'd have a time finding a buyer who'd part with $895 though.

I've found that they're worth what someone is willing to pay for them. As Sunray pointed out, it all depends on who wants them and for what price. The rifles themselves are nothing special from a mechanical standpoint, both Post 64 models, likely with stamped parts.

thanks everybody, i'll let him know. Sunray, i must have screwed up on the calibers, got the two mixed up. If you say that they came in those calibers, then we'll go with that. It was just a conversation, and i didn't see them. And my memory is crap

My worst fear is that some well-meaning relative will give me an RCMP Commemorative Model 94 and I'll have to fake a smile and give insincere thanks for the gift.
