Hi All,
A friend of mine heard a knock on the door today. When he answered it was his neighbor who gave him 2 rimfires. He said that as none of the grandkids had the least interest in them and he did not want them anymore but he didn't want to give them to the cops, my buddy could have them for free! They are not really what my buddy wants but the price was right so he took them. He is hoping they will finance the 10/22 he really wants. I don't have pics as he does not own a computer or digital camera:confused:and he's a 4 hour drive away.
He got a Cooey Model 39 with a Weaver Marksman 3/4" tube 4 power scope and a Remington Model 550-1. There is a slight mark on the buttstock of the Remington but other than that he says they look like new. Anybody got any idea what the might be worth? I see one 550-1 that is sold and no 39's F/S on the EE.

It depends on condition, and pics would help, but making a blind guess, I'd say $100-125 for the Cooey and $150-200 for the Remington. Your buddy might be able to trade them for a 10/22.

The Remington 550-1 is an unsung gem  (an accurate, tube-fed rifle that can fire S/L/LR and some CB ammunition in semi-auto fire): I'd consider holding it, rather than selling it off!

Yeah, I'd like pics also but what do you do with a friend that is 100% computer illiterate???? He says they are like new and he does know guns so I will go with that till I see them personally. He says he really is not into them and really wants a mag fed semi auto .22 and as I am a great lover of the 10/22 platform that is what he will probably end up getting. Thanks for your input, it was about what I was guessing. Is the scope worth anything extra? 3/4' Steel tube Weaver 4x.

IMO your friend should hang on to them, at least for a while. They're not worth too much money and they're well built, good shooting guns. The Cooey would be great for training your son/daughter (naturally taking the scope off, at first), and as mentioned by Cyclone, the Remington is under-appreciated.

He's 52 and his son is grown up and really is not into guns much. He has limited room in his safe and just wants stuff he is going to use in there. As he already has an Anshutz single shot he doesn't need one of those and he's really not into the tube fed as it would not be competitive in our backyard steel speed shooting competitions against my 10/22's. He'll lose anyways but at least he'll feel like he is in the game, lol.
