Hey all.

What are you guys paying for boxes of 223?

MFS, American Eagle, etc.......... 20 rounds.

Has an interesting experience at a local place here that got me wondering.........

I always buy .223 in cases.
MFS 55gr 500rd case $175 = $7 per 20rd box = $0.35 per round.

pretty sure it is.. i won't buy anything unless I can use the brass for reloading..

Last weekend I picked up one of the 1000 round ammo cans of American Eagle 55gr at P&D for $399. A bit more expensive than I've seen at some places, but I also wanted the ammo can so it balanced out.

Then an outburst of OCD forced me to organize the ammo into alternating rows for optimized capacity. I think I fit an extra 150 or so in there from a box of 200 that I bought. Hopefully the brass will be good for a few reloads as well.

Yes.
MFS 55gr, steel case zinc plated, FMJ rounds.
For $0.35/rd I don't worry about reloading because it won't save much.
I've been happy with the ammo since I have had no FTF, FTF or FTEs with it.
I don't have any reloading equipment so I have to get relatives to do that for me.

For my HK SL8 I buy heavier 60+gr rounds at a higher price because I can't get them in bulk, with those I save the brass for reloading.
