What are you running for optics on your Classic Green?

To hell with the possible prohib controversy! I like my Swiss and want to use it so I'm going to go out and buy a rail and see what she can do with some glass.

I read that the Aimpoint Micro H1 / T1 will co-witness. What about a magnifier?

The Shooter Center told me that lots of folks use the ADM mounts for optics. Any other suggestions? I'd love to still be able to use the irons. I have a PEPR mount but I find it a little bulky and heavy and I have no idea if it'll work. I need to get a rail first.

I suppose I would need a cheek piece too eh?
 
Aimpoint micro sights will co-witness with the irons. If you want to add a magnifier, get a scope instead. If you decide to go the scope route, get a flat top model.

Too late, I have a Classic. I bought the Classic Green for the irons, now I'm just trying to diversify what I can do with the rifle.
 
Shot one this past weekend with an Elcan on it.... get the Elcan!
I love their glass. Crystal clear, with instant 1-4x, or 1.5-6x.

Very versatile, but too rich for my blood.
 
As usual it depends how much money you have to spend.

If cash is no object get an original SIG quick detach mount and do it up right with a TA11 on top Polizei style. SIG designed this combo to work on their rifle and it is the best setup I've tried on mine.

You can also go the aftermarket pic rail route and slap whatever scope on there, it still works.


 
If I go red dot it has to be a 2MOA dot or smaller, I know Eotech's center Doris about .75MOA but I'm not sold on them.

As for the Elcans ... 1500-2000$! My LR scopes aren't even worth that much. I have a Hilux CMR in a PEPR that I'll try but I'll likely upgrade / switch to something else.
 
The ACOGs look pretty sharp and bullet drop hash-marks would be handy but I'm reluctant. I'd like to use this for deer and coyote hunting and a fixed 3x or 4x could be a big disadvantage in tick woods or at close range.

It would seem that way but worked great for both. I shot mine out to 600 meters and could keep 20 rounds in a row on an 8" gong at 300 m prone no prob. For close range I expose the fiberoptic fully so the chevron blooms ( keep it covered with electrical tape) eye picks it up easy when you snap the rifle up. Only with a TA11 though. Reg acogs eye relief is too damn short.
 
In my opinion the two best optics for the San is a good 1-4 or 2-10 e new sight rob 1-8 grocers both ranges. A 30mm tube so in low light and low power you still have darn near a reflex sight with a good low power scope. I have tried almost 30 variations of optics on these and find I'm now stuck on the great new breed of scopes in the mentioned power ranges.
 
I will have to give the Hi-Lux a go. I had it on an XCR and it did the job but overall I felt "meh" about it. It's not a true 1-4, it's a 1.?-4 which is annoying at times. Maybe I'll have to sample some other optics.

This has got me thinking .... Do some of you really use fixed 3x scopes (ex Trijicons) as reflex sights for close shooting? Ex, does the non shooting eye do the seeing while the shooting eye picks up the chevron like any red dot sight? Or does this just play havoc with the eyes? If I can hit anything coyote size in any kind of terrain from 0-300m I'll be happy with a fixed 3x.
 
Before I sold mine I had a Bushnell 2.5-16x42 and then an Elcan Specter DR. Both worked well but I found the Bushnell made it too bulky, it was good for the range but not the bush. The Elcan was great, not sure if it will sit over the diopter sight as I had the flat top model.

If you are looking for a low magnification scope you cannot beat the short dot. 1.1x magnification for hunting in the bush and will adjust up to 4x for longer shots.

It works good for me but some people do have problems with it. You would have to try out someones acog to see if you like it. Again I find a huge difference between acog models. The TA11 is much more user friendly than the smaller 4x acogs.

If the Specter DR 1x/4x is the same height as a 1.5x/6x, it will just clear the diopter using a B&T rail anyway. Don't go without a cheek riser for a really nice cheek weld with this application. Elcan makes really nice stuff.
 
I stumbled across a promo add for the Trijicon 1-6 VCOG, that would also be in the 1500-2000$ price range. Looks like a really nice optic, but again, probably too rich for my blood.
