what are your favorite/go-to .30-30 & .45-70 loads?

My Marlin 336: 170 grain Speer, chased by 35 grains of WC755 powder [surplus from Higginson's years ago]
My Marlin 336A [24"]: 170 Hornady, chased by 37 grains of Leverevolution, or the 160 Flex Tip Hornady chased
by 38 grains of the same. These loads all shoot 1"-1¼" at 100. Start a couple of grains down and work up.

Lyman 330gr Gould HP with AA5744 and a sheet of single ply as case filler running 1550fps...

Second up is a nice FP 405gr with 15-16gr of trail boss, nice plinker load and absolutely lethal to deer inside 100yrds.


I don't shoot 30/30.. I have a 45/70 and never seen the need for that new fangled fast and flat shooting .30cal....
