So... I've only recently become aware of the electronic powder measures. I'm looking at getting one and wondering who has used them and if they like them. Options include:

Lyman 7550550 gen 6, $350

Hornady lock n load auto charge ~$350

Rcbs charge master $580

Auto trickier and A&d fx 120i $900??

Any others out there? I'm looking at accuracy within .1 grain, and that meters varget well. 6mmBR FTW :)

I've been using the RCBS Charge master for 4 years. I like that it is easily programmed to run faster for large rifle charges. It is reliable and accurate.

I also have the RCBS and it does not weigh to the .12 all the time I guess that is why the BS in RCBS ha-ha

sometimes the RCBS is out and you would not know it as it beeps and seems to indicate it has measured the powder for you but looking at the scale it can show you it is out and I find it can clump with various powders, try the straw trick and so on but just realize the best way is a hand measure like a harrels unless you have a acculab or a fx120i and the autotrickler which I have first generation and I love it

RCBS Chargemaster, but I re-weigh every charge on my Acculab scale because I am looking for +/- .02 gr.

The automatic powder dispensers use weight rather than volume, so they are not really measures. I have been using the Chargemasters for a few years and they are excellent. If you watch the reading as you lift each pan of powder off of the scale, you can verify the calibration and zero after every single powder charge.

RCBS charge master here. I like it and do not regret purchasing it in the least. It has really speed up my reloading. Yes it does occasionally over charge, but it is really an easy fix and if I wasn't so anal about the 0.1 increment it would be fine.

I use the Hornady myself and am generally pleased with it. It doesn't do well with extruded powder (well, Varget anyway, I don't use very many other extruded powders) in my experience but it is a champ with spherical powders like BL-C(2) and H335. It does extruded powders well enough but it does overcharge enough that it annoys me.

I have checked the Hornady against several other digital and beam scales and it does a fairly good job of being within +-.1, good enough for the full power cartridges that I reload. I use my Lee Perfect Powder Measure for small cases like .223 in which I use Varget. It costs a fraction of the price but it measures the extruded better (or at least faster thanks to the relatively few overcharges).
