what base for stevens

which base will I need for the stevens 300 short barrel? I know it comes with none and plan on adding a reddot or compact scope

Well, I have the Stevens 300F [long barrel], and I have a two-piece set of bases for it. They are Weaver No. 16 bases according to the Weaver website, but mine are stamped "45". I think I just grabbed a set that looked right. They don't list a one piece, but that doesn't mean it's not out there.
