What befangled things do deer hunters try?

Just wondering if anyone else uses these attractants etc for deer, and do they actually work? I was up deer hunting and stopped by a gunshop just outside of Hanover and this stuff I think it was called "buck snort". It is some type of corn smelling stuff. I dont lie when I say it wreaks of very sweet smelling corn stuff. It like jelly. I was on the last day of the deer season and decided well its only $10. So I go to my stand that night and glob it on some nearby trees. Well I saw nothing, but that was the last day of rifles so I am assuming that every living thing is not going to move due to the roaming around of hundreds of other hunters. So does anyone else use anything at all, does it at all work, or am I out a mere $10. I know most ppl will say you will just have to wait and see for yourself.
 
I gave up trying to figure some people out when I guy I know got into sprinkling synthetic moose piss on his hunting boots. He told me it was great and not that expensive as he got a deal on the stuff. I did offer to piss on them myself for half what he paid for the synthetic stuff, but he declined. Just no figuring some people out...
 
i've heard some incredible stories about deer crack, a scented powder attractant, so i tried some last year and the deer wouldn't even touch it. Everytime i entered my stand i'd throw a few apples out and a sprinkle some crack around, the deer would eat the apples but never went for the crack. Needles to say i won't be buying it again.

There's your problem - they aren't supposed to eat it - They have to smoke it!:p
 
I have always put it out, just figuring it can't hurt, if anything it will help. Here in Nova Scotia this year they prohibited the use of natural scents so everything is synthetic...

I used the synthetic tinks 69 and the tinks scent bombs this year and had multiple deer come upwind to have a sniff.

I had a very small buck come up a hill in hurry after I rattled and grunted and he stood under the scent bomb for about 8 minutes sniffing and trying to reach the bomb with his nose (which was just out of reach) This gave me a good indication that it seems to work.

I figure if the small bucks and does give'r a sniff, the big ones will too..... Just my too cents
 
LOL: I usually manage to piss on my own boots, no need to add something else's piss on my boots. Funny what people fall for, like the camo jackets with the huge blazing orange collar inside....bahahaha :runaway:
 
I've had good success with moose/mare urine from the store. Sprinkled on some bushes and do some calling. I would come back the next morning to find the same bushes trampled and grounded to the ground.
 
LOL last year I was putting a couple screws in my stand using a cordless drill, and realized a 6 point was about 40 yards behind me watching me listening to the sound of the drill. Who needs deer pee, just bring your drill to your stand.
 
Well guys, I hate to burst your bubbles..... I had tremendous success with 'HOT' doe urine.

I had three BIG bucks come in to my scent wicks so far.

The stuff WORKS - like a magnet. It worked so well for me this year that it's almost like contraband....

I used at least two different types at one time - and freshened them up each time I went into my stand - It was like magic.

The freezer is full (to the top).

Stihl doesn't either. People using Homelite saws have been known to witness ungulates laughing at someone so silly. And I've personally seen moose shaking their heads watching in disbelief at an old guy trying to start a McCulloch :D
