What bino's do you carry when hunting?

I have a pair of 8X32 Leica binocs. I find that anything over 8X magnifies my shaky hands too much and I find it hard to see very clearly, but that's just me and my 43 year old eyes. I like the lightweight / size of these, but the quality still makes them bright even with a 32 mm lens.

X2 8x32 Leica are the best glass I have owned for the reasons stated above.

7x42 Brunton Eternas for early morning /low light, 8x32 Leica Untravids for general hunting, 10x50 Minox for open country, and some 6x32 Minox IF binocs for in the bush.

8x30 swarvorskis buy the best last a lifetime cost 1300 but you hunt 20 years you pay 70 dollars a year and you buy more beer in a year so don t settle for second best lifetime warranty good luck

I have a pair of 10x42 leicas that are amazing, as are the zeiss and swarovski bino's. I find 10's great for wide open country or large cutblocks, but when bowhunting in the timber they have to low a field of view. I think the 8x30 swarovski are close to the perfect still hunting glass (well if they were 7x they would be perfect).

If staying in Squamish I would go 8x, depending on where you are going to hunt once in AB, a set of 10x may be better.

Zeiss Victory FL 10X42's.

One thing I am certain that will be echoed many times is the importance of buying the very best glass you can THE FIRST TIME! I learned the hard way and probably spent the equivalent of my latest pair in the constant upgrading to better glass.

Good glass really is an investment of a lifetime... or until something even better comes along and you are in a better position financially to make the decision. Good luck.

I have been using Leupold 10x50 Olympics for ever now, and really do like them. In that price range, they would be difficult to beat. 10x is a little much for 80% of my hunting, and when I replace these it will likely be with a Leica Geovid 8x42.

I've been looking at the Minox BL 8x56 BR. Anyone have any experience with these? They weigh in at just over a kilo - too heavy? My thought is that a lot of hunting is done in low light situations, so a big exit pupil would be a big advantage. What do you guys think?

I'll be hunting in either BC or AB, don't know where the girlfriend and I will end up after our edumication stint in Cowtown. Spending a $1000 would be pushing the budget, so I think the big names are out.
