What bino's do you carry when hunting?

What do you mean that your eye could't use the larger exit pupil? Would it not be beneficial?

Like Dogleg said, 7mm is typically the largest a human pupil opens, and that is when we are young adults. So those 8x56 you are thinking of are good numbers. (7x50 is the classic "night glass" because at over 7x magnification, too many people see too much shaking in the image, from an unsupported hold.)

But I'm 46, and by your 40s, a maximum pupil opening is typically down to 5mm, so carrying bulkier lenses is a waste.

10x42 Nikon Monarch's don't have the money for the high end stuff, not sure I need them. Maybe one day, but till then, I'm more than satisfied.

This year I bought a pair of Minox BV 8x25mm. Love them! Very clear for their size, ultra light and compact.

i actually carry 2- one is a set of 8x40 carl shultz which is made by zeiss,( now before you say that isn't true, you have to go back to 75 when they were and it's stamped right on them-made in switzerland- when zeiss had a factory there- nice employee discount too, about 50% off retail- just had to wait 6 weeks for them to get here) and a pair of 10x25 bushnell folders for seeing close up- they're so small that they add almost no weight to my alice straps- typically, the horse will carry the big set

I've gone through a lot of binoculars through the years.

Currently have Leica 8x42 Trinovids. Heavy but love them.

I'm kinda scared to look through a set of Ultravids because I know the bank account will take a hit if I do.:D
I have to say Pentax makes very under rated binoculars.
Had a set of the 8x42 DCF something or other and liked them. Gave them to a buddy and he's still enjoying them.

I have 10x42 Pentax and love them. Another great set of glass that cost very little are the 8x42 Leupold Mojave.

I would like to get a set of good 8x32 for travelling and other times when big glass isn't needed.
