what would be a good black powder charge to use in a antique belgain .320 center fire? the previos owner said he shot vintage factory loaded black powder ammo out of it noproblem, and i got 2 of the rounds with the gun and also some .32 short colts. i will be poping off the tips and dumping out the smokeless, but i dont know what charge i should use. also would FFg work, or shoud it be a diferent one?

Pretty sure with black powder, you should be filling the case completely up to the base of the bullet. No airspaces in between. You could use some type of filler I suppose, but no air pockets.

m-134,

Here is what an old Lyman reloading manual states (issue no.29 p. 65, copyright 1929):

Tables of Charges for Pistols and Revolvers
II. - Black Powder
(Standard Factory Charges)
.32 Short Colt
Ideal Bullet Number 299152
Bullet Weight Grains 80
Black Powder Grains 8.0 FFFg

I notice that for all .32 S&W and 32 Colt they only use FFFg.

Hope this is helpful. Because I don't know anything about your revolver condition, I can't reccomend any of the above.

40-82

THIS! If you are loading black in cartridges it is imperative that there is no air space between the bottom of the bullet and the top of your powder. Ideally, there should be some compression of the powder when you seat the bullet into the case. THIS IS IMPORTANT WHEN LOADING BLACK POWDER!
