What bran AR do you recommend?

Hey guys what name brand AR do you swear by... Do they all work flawless or what! What brand would you buy and what brand would you stay away from? I'd like to hear it from the pro's, that being all my fellow gun nutz!

What is your budget?

Raisin Bran, of course! Two scoops of green tips in every mag... Yum! :D All kidding aside, that depends on your price range. I've heard that the Norincos are good on a budget. For mid-price, I'd go DD, Armalite, Colt (If you can get one for less than a kidney!), Spikes, BCM, or any other mid-range brand. Hope this helps!

What is your budget or are you willing to spend on the rifle???remember magazines, scopes, slings accessories..etc etc...

Also, if you want things like free float quad rails, fancy stocks, etc, it may be worth it to buy a more expensive factory rifle that already has those features (DD, Noveske), rather than getting a vanilla Stag or Bushy and adding those things on afterwards.

I was thinking 1500 max...

If $1500 is all in, Norinco, with scope of choice (Aimpoint PRO would be my recommendation), sling, 10 PMAGS, and ammo with the remainder.

If $1500 is for the rifle alone, push the budget up a couple hundred more and get a DD (Something like a DD M4v7 is $1509 before tax from Wolverine).

I have to throw in my support for Stag as well. The 2TR is a great rifle with some bells and whistles, but not necessarily the kitchen sink. The rifle will run you 1500, but don't think you're ever getting a decent AR "finished" for the price you first have in mind. You'll love everything about your rifle, and then you'll see an accessory that you like better than what's bolted on presently... and then another, and another... Welcome to the addiction whatever you end up buying.

true I am pretty happy with my bushmaster, but it does add up but if I had the patience to wait and save for a dd or noveske I would've but my bushmaster shoots great can't complain no problems with ammo

Rather than starting a whole new thread, I have a question for you knowledgeable AR guys. If we find a make and model of AR that we like as a starter rifle, is it customizable later on with the better brands of parts we would want to add like rails, comps, stocks, grips, etc. Or can we run into trouble like buying "Brand X" AR and not being able to fit Magpul or DD parts on it later on?

If the AR is out of spec to the point that standard parts are not being accepted or incompatible than I would pass unless you are going to leave that gun as is...
