So, Potentialy a Moose hunt in the Skeena in my future. What bullet would be better? 180gr or 200gr Nosler AB or even Partitions, Got both. Shootin a 300 Win Mag. Never Hunted where there is Grizzly Bear.

Thanks

I found the 180 NP to lack penetration for big animals at bad angles from the 300 WM. I went up to the 200 gn NP and then I went to the 300 Wby to get the same velocities from the 200 that I was getting from the 180 gn load in the 300 WM. I have been hunting with this combo ever since and I have no complaints at all. Is the extra 150-200 fps from the 300 Wby necessary..........???????? But I would definitely recommend the 200 gn AB or Part in the 300 for heavy game.......it really works well.

Use the 180 for supreme paper ballistics, use the 200 for slightly better results IN game animals. Verified by the marginal few with the requisite experience untainted by extreme enthusiasm for statistics who can attest to my "super curmudgeon discernment". Your'e welcome. ;-)

Many above have it right... any of those are fine for the task. Go with whichever shoots best and bolsters your confidence.

The 200gr AccuBond kills much like a medium bore 250 gr bullet, especially at 3006 speeds. Both weights will work but going to the 200 will yield better results.

I have always felt that in the bigger 30's, the 200 grain Partition/Accubond/??? was a slightly better choice than the 180 equivalent.
That being said, I have shot a lot of game with the 180 Partition, started at right around 3100 in the 308 Norma Magnum, and the
game never went anywhere after a solid hit from any angle. I guess it may boil down to which shoots best on YOUR rifle. EE.

I wonder if a 200gr would stabilize in my FN Browning Safari in .308 NM with it's 1-12 twist ? It shoots 180's fine.
