any body out there have a recommendation for the optimal bullet weight for the glock 17?I have just aqcuired one and I have a good supply of 124gr fmj I was planning to use.all opinions appreciated.
thanks

As noted, there is little to choose....'run what ya' brung!'
124Gr. is probably the best compromise, but my 3 9MM Glocks (19,17,34) don't seem to be very fussy in terms of function or 'combat' accuracy regardless of bullet weight ( 115, 124, 147, etc.)

Also, if you are shooting a factory Glock barrel, stick with copper plated or jacketted projectiles.

+2
If you hand load, the money spent on Montana Gold total metal jacket is worth it in my opinion.

I like a fast powder like titegroup or VV N320 and 147s, and find reduced muzzle flip with that combination.

thanks to all,I appreciate the input.I am using 124 gr hand loads with tite group powder. This is going to be my backup gun for an IPSC match this saturday. My primary gun has been having issues.Wish me luck!!

130TC cast lead bullet.

I am currently having very good success with a 130gain TC cast lead bullet. Lead still appears to be cheaper than lead. Jacket bullets, copper wash and the lot push up costs too far. They are not worth the extra money to me since I will fire a ton of the cast bullets over the year.
BTW. If you are shooting cast lead bullets in Glocks, don't. Change out the factory barrel with one of the superb Lone Wolf lands&grooves barrels.
